if the questions is useful, as far as your team winning then it would have to be:

1) engineer: can defend against armor with mines, repair assets and is best class in armor.  mines are a particularly useful means of defending since the last patch since you can litter the landscape with em without compromising your armor.  repair driver ability points make groups of engi/armor one of the most formidable forces in the game.
2) anti-tank: can blow up armor from a distance.  unless you take out armor, infantry combat is effectively eliminated.  how bad ass are you with a pkm or ak-101 when that enemy apc comes down karkand alley?
3) medic: great for squad combat because he'll keep your team alive in firefights but this skill is fairly useless if you're fighting against armor (they'll tear you to shreds before you have a chance to revive).  nice guns to boot...who would think that medic would be better gunners than spec ops?
4) spec-ops: c4 can blow up assets (which is crucial on some maps) and defend against tanks.
5) supports: good infantry fighting and ammo bags are useful especially for anti-tank, spec ops and snipers.
6) assault: great guns, grenade launchers r ok, smoke and flash bangs underrated/utilized
7) sniper: spotting, sniping and claymores are usefull but don't really help you win that much

notice i don't this is the order of what are the best kits, but rather most useful kits.  in other words, if i were commander and could decide what people would spawn as, this would be my order of preference.  i list anti tank second despite the fact that i hate playing it...its a thankless job taking out armor but it sure is useful for my team:)

AT without a doubt.

a couple months ago i was in a server and our team decided to see what it would be like if we all went AT.  not a single flag was captured.

the SRAW/ERYX gives you long range capabilities with a one shot kill.  the dao12 gives you CQC capabilities.  also, try getting your armour column  through 16 guys all firing SRAWs at you.  I don't care how many engineers and supply boxes you have, it just ain't gonna happen.
you know, you're right.  if everybody would pick AT you'd have a pretty tough time beating em.  could be susceptible to snipers and grenades though.  how about 70% AT, 15% medics (revives) and 15% support (ammo)...that would be unbeatable.

sniper,
like the eyes of the game, can spot tanks/heli/inf that you cant see or didnt know was there, therfore leading to others reacting to it. hardly happens in public but none the less still v. useful

Supports duh, ulimited ammo, giving ammo, everybody needs ammo for the killing. AT kit is nothing without the support guys. (most medics are pointwhores, dont care about the team that needs to be alive, only the +2)

(im talking about a normal player, not some baboon who doesnt do anyhting)

did i mention the ulimited flying bananas ?

supply drop, dude when a AT is out of ammo he calls for ammo, Support is the number 1 factor in that, do you realy think everytime a AT is out of ammo he gets a supply drop. i can also help but support is number 1

I think I answered the question "if everybody in your team only used one kit, which would be the best (considering also other maps than Karkand)?".

Tanks and APC have a tendency to lock the game if there's no AT around. Everybody just hides in a corner waiting for either an AT or a friendly tank. AT is the class that can act in all circumstances. A team with only medics would be in trouble on maps like Dragon Valley or Fushe Pass.

There should be 3 groups of classes in my opinion:

_The essential classes: AT, medic, engineer

_ The useful classes: support and specops

_ The useless classes: sniper and assault

(after patch 1.2 of course)

Spec ops is the most useful kit. with Nades, c4 and a good rifle you can kill anything and lots of it.

Thats what a commander is for.

AT is one of the useful kits. Because the DAO-12 is almost unstopable in close combat, and if you have a steady hand you can easily peg an enemy player with the AT rocket.

Snipers can be very good at defending some flags.  More so in Special Forces with the Zip Line to get in to a more advantageous position.

I wouldn't say there is ONE "best" kit.  They have their ups and downs, and are better for different situations.  If there was a BEST, then that is what everyone would use (boring).

There are good kit combos though.....like, if you play with a small squad.  I play with one of my friends a lot.  We make our own squad, use TS for communication....and play a combo of AT and support.......it seems to work quite well.

i think there's a distinction between "best" and "most useful" kit.  i think the best way to define "most useful" is to ask what would the commander prefer that people most use as a kit.  "best" kit would be what people or find most dominating.  you can't really dominate using an AT kit (score wise or kill wise) as you would with let's say the medic or support kit, however your team would dominate from a tactical point of view and you'd win.

overall practicality and usefulness it's a toss up between medic and AT, but in the end i'd have to say medic.

Overall, Spec Ops is the most *versitile* class. Its damn near a swiss army knife - killing power up close? check. killing power at range? check. sniping? check. anti-tank? check. ability to set traps? check. assault commander assets? check. sure, there are other classes that do one or two of those well, but no class does so many things as well as Spec Ops.

The only thing they cannot do is heal, repair, and resupply.

yeah, but don't forget that spreading your pieces too thin can loose you the game. Specialization is the key.

I would have to say that

Mostly Infantry maps

1. AT (Best all round Fighter)
2. Medic (Obvious)
3. Neer (Still some armor)
4. Support (Obvious)
5. Spec Ops (Swiss-Army Knife)
6. Sniper (Spottin' 'n' Snipin')
7. Assualt (Everyone else can do my job and something else too.)

Mostly Vehicle Maps

1. Neer (Obvious)
2. AT (Obvious)
3. Spec Ops (Obvious)
4. Sniper (I am really good at spotting. But thats about it)
5. Assault (I'm like sniper, except I can't spot real well. However, my nade laucher puts me above the other two)
6. Support
7. Medic

I don't pay nearly as much time as I should into SpecOps, but IMO it's a better all around class than the ones I see used most (medic, sniper...), mainly for the ability to blow anything that you can get within 3 feet of into a smoldering pile of twisted metal , but also for the accuracy and firepower of those carbines.

I chose Medic because he's just like the Assault class (minus the GL), but can revive teammates and heal himself and others

Using C4 and mines as offensive weapons may be possible in theory, but when I get nailed when driving tank/APC it's an AT guy in 95% of the cases (I drive over mines more often but that's when they're placed defensively). They are much more efficient at destroying tanks (duh!). It's also the only class that can force a tank to retreat.
