Translation:

I shot a guy, he knifed me.  I understand the set ups they do.  But go pee.

If you shot someone with a 50 cal, plus it was leathal, they should at least fall down, or be good for nothing. Like if you had a concussion, not continue as you normally would.

How about it Designers.

Dubbs, I love nothing more in forums than a good translation of posts like this. Thanks for making my day.

Games with 1 shot kill on sniper rifles are terribly unbalanced. The designers decided to have 2 shot kill. Therefore, they could either use smaller caliber rifles or use a .50 like everyone wants and reduce the effects. Which is what they want for. You do get the bonuses of a bullet-drop corsshair, shoot through glass and double damage to vehicles.

Ping is probably the cause of 90% of the complaints about hacking/cheating/how the hell did he do that/ etc. I SHOT HIM 20 TIMES and he shot me once and I died. 600 rounds per minute, 10 rounds per second, 1 round per 100 milliseconds. If you have a ping of 300 and someone else has a ping of 100, he is going to get a 2 bullet advantage every time the two of you have a firefight. So you could shoot 6 and not kill him while to you it appears that he shot 3 times and you died. This is why I command, snipe, and whore armor. It protects me from bad ping variations.

He's actually complaining that although he shot him with a sniper, the other guy (who would have 2 health bars left) knifed him.

The problem of someone surviving a .50 round to the chest/limb/whatever has arisen again and again on these forums.

Yes, it's unrealistic.  Yes, a .50 round will tear a limb off, or leave an exit wound the size of a dinner plate.  It will take any poor individual it hits out of action instantly, and probably kill them.

Y'know what, though?  Battlefield 2 is not a simulator.  It's a game.  Being able to kill with a single shot from a sniper weapon would be too powerful.  It takes skill to hit the head, and that skill is rewarded.  For game balance purposes, guns can't kill too easily with only one shot.

What I don't understand whenever this topic resurfaces is why people focus on the M95 and it's fat-ass .50 shell?  If someone gets shot with anything, it's probably going to take them out of action.  A 9mm pistol round ripping its way through your flesh is going to leave you in a bad way.  It is less likely to kill you, and if you've got body armour on then it may not be too bad, but in all likelyhood it's going to to at best leave you in a condition where you're unable to fight on.  If you can't aim your weapon 'cause your arm is bleeding, you might as well go home...

As has been said many times before this is just a game. While some reflection of the real weapon's character is desirable you can't model the performance of a gun like a .50 sniper rifle exactly as it might be in reality. It already has the unique ability to shoot through armoured glass and to deal severe damage to vehicles as a way to compensate for its loud report, slow action and fat reticles.

As far as realism goes I don't think people would want that.

Bullet-wound ballistics can actually vary widely depending on many things including range, bullet mass, bullet velocity, bullet type/shape, the angle of the shot, the size of the individual, where they're shot, clothing if any, the specific gun used (varied rotation) and whether the bullet strikes something on the way to the target. Many of these can combine to give irregular performance...

I've seen autopsy photographs of a guy's torso with something like 50 9mm Parabellum wounds in it (yes, you read that right). And these were police bullets so they're jacketed hollow points, not the less-wounding FMJ that militaries use. Not one of the rounds had performed as intended - didn't mushroom - so they punched neat little holes in this big guy's torso, all of which missed anything vital by sheer dumb luck/bad aim; apparently he was still standing before getting dropped by a shotgun slug that hit his upper spine.

At the other end of the spectrum some people just plain die of fright when shot, even if the wound isn't medically serious.

Then take two individuals with wounds to the chest that look superficially similar from .45 ACP - one a suicide, the other a gun-cleaning accident. Unfortunately the suicide missed anything vital and took hours to bleed to death, leaving him time to crawl to a phone and try to call for help; the poor dumb schmuck cleaning his gun died instantly.

So I think realism in a game would be highly overrated.

So... you think Ghost Recon was/is unblanced??     It makes a mockery of this silly game (IMO)

i understood what the poster said, prefectly!  lol  Gets is stupid that i cant snipe someone dead with the m95 all the time, but some joker can kill me from nowhere with a silenced pistol. I use the l96a1 now instead.

yes, but is the AWP in counter-strike balanced?  no not really, getting shot anywhere besides the foot puts you out.
