BF2S Forums Was this game worth the money?

Personally i think the game was definatly worth £30 i love it online, agreed the SP was absolute BS, i was expecting very simialr to 1942 and was let down, but i love the game i just want to make it to the officer ranks then i think i will stop playing, or just buy quake wars and leave bf2, but we shall see.
the arty can be a joke.
i still give the game a high rating in my books 9.99/10 the only that doesnt make it to 10 in my eyes are fuckers that spoil this game, i can live with every thing else. but i would change a few things, like the arty i agree a missile strike would be cool but would be different for each side, and bigger maps for plane whores, like me and differnet models with girls, or a create ur own player would have been awesome.

i still love the game even im not the best or ever will be and give the game a 9/10 at minimum

as for 3 theres a downloadable mod here http://files.bf2s.com/details.php?file=261 that allows you to use them single player, its a single player only mod so don't worry about having your stats erased by EA or anything.

SF sucks yea that was a waste of money, i'm glad i got it off of ebay is all i can say.

i better strategic and tactical aspect would be good, but you have to ask yourself how would you impliment it and make it work without messing up other gr8 aspects of the game?

Operation flashpoint, but with more up to date graphics     Ghost recon 3 aka ghost recon advanced warfigher aka GRAW when it finally comes out. (sorry if i'm not allowed to mention other games). But this will have tactics AND nice graphics AND good gameplay if it's as good as the orignal. I'll be trading this foolishness in for it, or selling it on ebay  lol.

Sniping is great as well, but you are a sitting duck when u shoot someone who is relatively close to you, they just take your bullet then shoot you  :-/

Yep, was worth it.

It was worth it. EA just needs to fix the bugs and stuff.

I have found a decent 15-20 servers i play on a regular basis with WARHAWKS (SpecialForces) as the most played server.

Worth the money : Yes way, one of the best games in its class - no doubt.

You`ll always have cheaters, glitchers, teamkillers,bugs and noobs no matter what online game u play so learn to live with it !

Got my 500 hrs service.  Looking forward to the next 500.  Need I say anymore.

bf2 is a great game ruined by crappy coders and patchers

3 high points of the game:

1. Consistant Stat and Rank tracking: Players that play and are good are rewarded. It honestly feels good when you earn another medal/badge/ribbon. Its nice to be able to look back and say "wow, ive improved". Its nice to look at somebodies stats and go "wow, they are better than me, i need to shape up" or "wow, they really suck". additionally, players that are consistant are rewarded with unlocks that are not ultimate, but offer a slight improvement.

2. Total Battlefield Combat: not just the tactical-foot aspects, not just the armor battles, not just the aircraft battles; this game takes all that and mixes and blends. In few, if any, other games can you get into a tank, kill, get out, get into a jet, kill, get out, run around, kill, get into a helicopter, kill, etc etc.

3. Tactical Teamplay: the game is set up to be run with a chain of command by players who can communicate effectively, pass knowledge on to those who need it, and work as a single unit to overwhelm their opponent.

3 low points of the game:

1: idiots, griefers, TKers, stat-padders, etc: "Average Joe + internet + anonymity = complete jackass". so true. people are oftentimes selfish, and dont really want to work together, or to communicate.

2: gamespy. why EA hooked up with EA I have no idea. server-surfing, searching, and anything like that is total BS. singular proprietary systems are better. and no friends list? tch.

3: total lack of communication: i dont know why, but US servers dont use VoiP, they dont communicate, half the time they dont spot, most commanders are idiots, etc etc. i know this is just a repeat of 1, but it really is a big problem. in fact, the only real problem with the game.

As far as SF sucking: I dont understand the basis for this one. I have SF and i play it occasionally. The maps are good, well balanced, and meant for ground combat. It seems as though people want "no aircraft, all urband combat" and then when they get it in SF they...i dont know. complain. something. Seems like all anybody ever wants to play is Karkand, and I have no idea why.

As far as the patches sucking: what, per se, has been so bad about the patches? they nerfed things that were overpowered. generally, the only people that complain are the ones that get something they love using nerfed, so they whine. Sure, with some patches something got out-of-balance. Sure, some things still need to be balanced. But thats what the patches are for: to try to level the game field.

As far as single player, why even play single player? just...go play DOOM3 or Quake4 or Fear or something. The fun in BF2 is that the people you are playing against are really people, they make mistakes, they each have their own style of play, etc etc.

Oh, and the unlocks? yes, they are an improvement, most of them. are they the end-all be-all of the game? no. Tier 1 unlocks are good; Tier 2 unlocks are good. G3 > F2000 IMHO. PKM > MG36. on the other hand, G-36E > L85A1. Many of the non-unlocks are good too! the pump shotguns are deadly close range. AK-101 is still one of the better guns in the game. same with the M24.

and as far as using the unlocks in SF? seriously, they give us unlocks. neat. then they give us SF, thats cool, some new guns. and *then* they decide to be cool and be all like "well, im gonna let them take some of the SF guns back to Vanilla, they should like that!" ...and what do you say?

Theres no "shitting on the game" it's an open debate for people's opinions.

Anyway, the demo was something like 10min on multiplayer gulf of oman. It didn't show how bad the single player would be and it didn't make out that you would have to buy expanion packs to get half decent weapons.

The only thing i got from the demo was that you could fly planes, use UAV and drive vehicles. The rest ok my time was spent being tk'd trying to get into said planes and or spawnkilled. Oh and the demo let me know whether it would work on my pc, too.

My final word is this. If all the expansion packs had been put together in the main game so that it was one big game, then i wouldnt have been as bothered. However, as it stands we have been fed bits of game so that people can make as much money as possible before they bring out the next the next game. Lo and behold that new one is just round the corner already.

BF2 vanilla: Hell yes!

SF: I have regretted getting this because I didn't have enough memory to run it non-laggy. I got the memory yesterday (I'm gonna test SF after typing this, lol).

EF: Haven't gotten this because I can only be signed to one account. As me and my bro both play (both 1st Sgt's) we thought thats just bullshit.
