I put this next to my reload button as a fast way to get to my pistol, but it just keeps going to grenades, even after the reverse inventory command. I'd put it as '2' for pistol, but what if I want to go to knife? To do that, I have to use the awkwardly made middle mouse button, or use the numbers, on the other side of the keyboard.

Lefties unite!

About my mouse, it's one of these: http://www.cluboverclocker.com/reviews/ … istol8.jpg

I use the numbers, as with scrolling I sometimes pull out the wrong weapon. I have pistol set to the scrollwheel click and '6' set to my side button for quick shock paddle action.

Hmm, I use the numpad, with the numbers as vechicle positions, and F1 to F4 as camera position for vechicles.

I hate the entire weapon control

When I use numbers I can't move in some directions
When I use the mousewheel I can move but you have to scroll and then click, thats gay because if you want to change from assault rifle to grenades, then an enemy jumps around the edge and you get panic, you scroll back to the rifle and then click. NOW THE GODDAMN RIFLE IS SWITCHED TO SINGLE SHOT OMG! Thus you will loose the combat if your enemy has any skill.
The weapons should be changed IMMEDIATELY when scrolling, and changing the fire mode should be an extra key.

My sentiments exactly. I've always wondered why EA did that with the weapon selection. They should do it the old fashion way where you just turn the mouse wheel and it changes to the weapon directly, instead of having to left click to have it change to the selected weapon. It's so annoying. But I've coped and adapted and just learned to use the number keys above the movement keys.

Despite that it would simply be more convenient to have it the old fashion way. I think that switching the weapons fire mode should be the "X" key. Every other shooter seems to have that as the default key for switching from burst to single fire mode. I tried to do that currently by putting the number 3 key as "X" but it didn't work for some reason.

This is a post that I did a while back on my group forum.

Well if there is anyone else that doesn't use the mouse wheel to scroll through weapons to select then this might be helpful. First go here My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 (you might have more then one numeric directory you must fin which is the account you use), next open control.con in notepad.

Goto the very bottom and erase:
ControlMap.addAxisToTriggerMapping c_PINextItem -1 IDFMouse IDAxis_2 0
ControlMap.addAxisToTriggerMapping -1 c_PIPrevItem IDFMouse IDAxis_2 0

Next goto the top and find "ControlMap.create InfantryPlayerInputControlMap" and add this below it:
ControlMap.addAxisToTriggerMapping c_PIWeaponSelect1 -1 IDFMouse IDAxis_2 0
ControlMap.addAxisToTriggerMapping -1 c_PIWeaponSelect2 IDFMouse IDAxis_2 0

This will make scroll up switch to knife and scroll down to pistol instanly. If you want these as different functions you must change c_PIWeaponSelect1 to the desired function.
