SHooting down the UAV

Ok guys and gals. I have seen where alot of your posted that you shot down the UAV.

Are you getting a registered hit with each shot or are you shooting it for 10 minutes and it explodes?

I think its the latter and the UAV exploding because it is finished rather than you shot it down.

I believe it is impossible to shoot down the UAV. Prove me wrong.

ill make a video i have shot down the uav many many times in a jet Never on the ground i have shot it like 5 times with the m95 but it never exploded until it did finish

I've shot it down. It's hard to hit, cause it's usually really far away. I tend to spray at it with machine gun fire.

It's easy enough to take out if you're in a jet, or if you're in a non-Linebacker AA vehicle with rapid firing guns. Just fill the area just in front of the UAV with shells and it'll fall apart fairly quickly.

I make a habit of taking them down if I'm in an AA vehicle. It's good for the team to keep the enemy blind. I just wish they'd give me a point for it :]

go play as MEC commander on Iron Gator and you'll see that your UAV doesn't last long ! this is because of aircraft carrier's AA defense systems !

It does show a registered hit when you shoot it. It doesn't go down easily with conviential firearms. Try a rocket or a jet.

So AA defense system on Essex and the AA vehicle can lock onto the UAV? Or just free shoot it until it goes down?

you get registered hits. I have never taken the effort to shoot it down as infantry, but ive done it plenty of times in a jet, and even in a chopper with a gunner. Also have done it numerous times while in a vehicle, or a tank and just hop in the second seat and use that machine gun.

No, nothing locks on.... GOtta just keep hitting it. AA Vehicles are the best. I have taken out a UAV with a M95 before though. I've even crashed into onein a jet before. Just appeared right in front of me... DOH!.... Impaqt is no more.... "What happened to the UAV???"

it does take a couple of shots but u can destroy it before it has to end. i used too allways shoot it down before the pkm was nerfed. now u still can shoot it down with high caliber weapons like a tank or a vodnik gun

I have a screenshot where the UAV circled right into a blackHawk with two others guys and me in it. I know it can kill us, I can't believe anyone has taken it down. I am going to try the IronGator idea to see today.

Why would you not be able to lock on if it was a legitimate target on the battlefield?

Why not get teamwork points for killing it?

It just seems to me the fellas I've seen attempt it, shoot at it until it disapears then declare "I shot down the UAV!" I just don't see it.....

I've definetly shot down the enemy uav on wake with a phalanx aa gun, about 5 seconds after it apeared. And i think i managed to shot it down with a g36c but it might just have ran out of fuel.

I've taken it down many times in a jet or AA. What really pisses me off is when I'm on a bombing run and either my commander or the enemy commander decides to deploy the damn thing right in front of me. BOOM you are no more, the UAV is down but so are you.

Those are questions for EA/DICE.... Seems silly to me that taking out an asset like the UAV wouldnt get you points..... Maybe we'll get it in 1.3

I'll see if I can get a buddy to command on the other side when I shoot one down.... WHen you detroy the UAV you have a LONG time before you can put another one up.

Just because it's a a legitimate target doesn't mean you can lock on to it. Try locking onto infantry as an example.

That's a good point. Taking the ammo/time to blind the enemy team helping yours. I think that the UAV should be counted as a commander asset either the trailer or the actual UAV in the air.

just FYI it has 200 hitpoints (soldiers have 100) and its armored class

so technically 3 or 4 shots from the m95 should take it down

I was shooting it down regularly on FuShe Pass using the Lav-25 or linebacker or whatever the Mobile AA Weapon is at the top of the American Uncap on the 32 Player map. Their commander would send it over and I'd get the little X when I was hitting it with the gun. True that missles don't lock on it.

Just a few bursts with the .50 cal does it.. the problem is you have to lead it.. a lot.. which not a lot of people are used to. Kinda like hitting jets with the .50 cal.
