I started playing the original half-life with the arrow keys, but switched to the wasd/wsad keys purely because there were more buttons around them that I could reach easily....Janus67 wrote:

if i'm in a firefight, and using 1-2 of the WASD buttons, i use whatever finger is free to switch to another gun. Like if i'm walking forward using my middle finger for W, my third finger is free so i just move my hand up a little. If i'm strafing (A or D) it's obvious that my middle finger is free. the hand movement is little.
Now if i'm walking AND strafing left, there might be a small issue there..but it's more or less all in the wrist. just let my finger off W for a split second pressing 2 ever so quickly.
I really don't see why you need like a "previous weapon" button or something. Since the numbers 1-3 are EASILY in reach and you only let your finger off a movement key for at most half a second. Half a second won't kill you.

yeh like everyone says use the 2 button...those who are ole skool and use arrow key to control...use the keypad number 2
just use left Alt that is what i have it set as. If i am in the middle of a fire fight, my thumb is not going to be in use, so you might as well utilise it by pressing left Alt for a quick change.
