Haha, I just got -1 for my above post with the reason "stat padder".

Can someone explain to me how if I load up and the teams are 10v10, excluding me, how is me switching teams to be on the side I prefer to play on (for example, USA on Karkand) stat padding?

Team switching only works IF you do it before the first 3/4 of the tickets are gone.  Example:

300 tickets per team and you switch to the winning side at 150=you still get a loss.

300 tickets per team and you switch at 250=you get a win.

Trust me, I've tested this shit.  Several times.

Also........

WHO THE FUCK CARES!!?  If you play on the winning team for the majority of the map, you DESERVE TO GET A WIN, regardless if you switched 3 minutes into it.  There is no way to know for certain which team will win at 250 tickets.  Shit happens, advantages switch, play making player join and leave through a round and the battle can go either way.  Sometimes you just get sick and fucking tired of playing the American team on Wake or sick and tired of being MEC on Karkand.  I switch all the damn time because I get tired of playing on the American team for 4 or 5 hours straight!!  A little diversity PLEASE, kthx.

A moderator seriously needs to make a sticky about explaining this bullshit because after the 2435234 time, I'm tired of it.  The bottom line is that you will probably never get the WCR because your a whiny little bitch who spends more time crying about the requirments than you do playing the fucking game.  If it was easy, everyone would have it.  They've made this ribbon to where only people with some hint of intelligence and the notion that they have to start on it early are able to get it.

You missed the fucking bus, get over it.
I hope you are joking about the tickets thingy. Regardless of how many tickets left on either team, as long as you switch to the winning team before the round ends----even before 1 second of round ending. You WILL get a winning record.

As for the topic, is intentional teamswitching stat padding? Yes and no. Why? because switching to the losing team intentionally is not stat padding.

I team switch all the time, but I don't do it mid-round. When I join the server, I attempt to switch teams to be on the team I like (either due to the map or wanting to be on the better team). But if I switch and then end up on the bad end of the stick, I rarely switch again.

That excludes when there are complete IDIOTS on my team who can't get a single flag though. That pisses me off to no end and I'll even leave the server if I can't switch. I can't stand incompetence (sp?).

And for the record, the 3:1 ratio is not that hard. I nearly have it just by playing fairly normally (as stated above).
My playing mentality exactly.
Or, I take a loss, my argument being that I shouldn't be forced to play on the losing team full of n00bs every time I join a server, and switch and stick with the decent team and try to let my WLR approach 3 again.  Like Cougar said, it's still a loss unless you've pretty much been on that team from the beginning, so you might as well stick it out and actually TRY to turn the battle to your team's side- just put some effort into it, I find that I am able to help my team make a comeback if I quit playing for kills and play for flags.  This works best, of course, if teams are randomized and the admins/regulars aren't whoring one team just to pwn it up because they're afraid of some competition.

i have 2 views which i think are both right (lol)

1. yes it is padding, the reason for that is the WCR (duh)

2. if you switch teams AT THE BEGINNING, then yes it is fine... if you do it to go with one of you buds then that is fine as well, but at the beginning when you aren't sure of you will win

other than that it is padding, so yes, why dont we all just get WCR?

But what about when the server teamswitch you automatically and you were at the winning team ?
I don't like this, and obviously I want to return back.

I hate the way some servers randomize teams after every round, or force you to stay on your side for as long as you stay on the server.  Being a member of a small clan where none of us has the wherewithal to rent or buy our own server, we rely on the public ranked servers for our practices.  Unfortunately we're often split down the middle team-wise and cannot switch teams.

I do understand that this is to deter padding, and on certain maps where one team wins 90% of the time (e.g., USMC on Karkand) to give players a chance to win once in a while but man, is it disappointing to spend three hours with half your clan mates on the opposing team.

Yes it is. If I join a one sided server I try to just leave cuz that crap is lame. 24/7 servers are usually where this happens. One side wins everytime and instead of evening the teams out everyone who thinks they deserve to win joins the good side. I like knowing that my positive W/L ratio is due to my own contribution and not becuz I play on stacked teams.

Its padding and its not

Swtiching only for a win is padding and gay

Switching because one of your friend is on the other team or because on certain maps you prefer behing on a certain side, well i think these are legit reasons.

Hey guys -
First I gotta accuse the people that use the stats of creating much of the problem of bad play which I define as selfish play. Since when does win/loss record mean anything in any competition except maybe baseball where the pitcher has a huge influence on whether the game is won or lost. Same in football with the quarter back.
Second, when one enters a game there should be a 50:50 chance they are assigned to either a winning or lossing team. If the stay with that team to the end, they would have a 1:1 win/loss record. Except, we all know that there has probably been team swithching which means that if anyone could switch to the other team someone probably has. For example when joining a game and after you join there is 17 on you team and 16 on the other. Most servers I've been on allow switching as long as it doesnt imbalance the teams beyond one. So if there is ANYONE who want to be on the winning side in such a situation they have already moved to the winning side. So when you Join a game in progress you are usually put on the Lossing team since that will even out the sides. So it takes some footwork to get yourself onto the winning side at the rate of 6:1 as the rule high scorer is today. Now if joining a team was purely random when first connecting to play ability should be equally distributed. A total of 40 players is a big pool to be pulling from and the chance of loading alot of really good players onto one side rather small. Unless you assume that one player on a team of 20 is so good they can turn the tide of play so much. This I don't believe for a second as has been illustrated over and over in professional sports. Take the pro teams that have a really great player, like the Seattle Mariners, who had that center fielder Ken Griffy Jr. They had him and no one else and they still sucker. He was being called the best center fielder ever. Well enoughof that.
But on the other hand there is understandably enough I would guess if players on a losing team got tired of getting the shit kicked out of tham all the time players would start drifting away to other games. I will admit to that. I don't mind losing. Its not the only thing in the world. But to be on a team which get all there flags taken all the time, that is miserable and I wont play that. This would of course increase the imbalance between teams it seems to me.
Well only one other thein. EA games has labeled certain conduct exploits. If there ever was an exploit it would be to constantly switch teams to be on the winning side because how much easier is it to get a high score when your team is kicking the crap out of the other. Every since I started playing this game I've been impressed with its potential for exploiting/unfair play. This is encouraged when the stats are shown with one of the main indicator of how good you are as Win/Loss. The could just as easy as collect the stats of team switching as any other stat and all the stats that would reviel the players who will figure any exploit to better there score. I love the noobtubes who rush to the attack choppers or the jets, or tanks so they can rack up those kills. I think a kill should be given less value when achieved in a dominating machine like a tank or chopper than say a SpecOps player who takes out a tank with C4. The later is much harder than the first by far.
Lastly, I believe it is to EA Games advantake to get players to look at their scores as their e-dicks, 'cause very few understand how hard it is to single handedly defend a flag, that rack up high win/loss record.

Will, Im tired of writing and I want to go play. Good luck to you all.

Teamswitching is retarded. I'll like a game whether it's really hard...and we lose...or it's an easy win.

And switching at the end of the round to get your w/l up is gay.

The kind of team switching that bothers me isn't the mid round kind, even though it is still padding.  What bothers me is after the first round looking at the teams and seeing 35 vs 19.

Hey guys you know that this doesn't matter anymore right?  Unless you want to make you W:L ratio higher, teamswitching is pointless as it gives you -2 points and you don't even need a 3:1 ration for the WCR.
