This was done in that Mars game, I forgot the title. I'm sure it would cause crazy lag, maybe it is for something in the future of gaming when they solve all lag issues. Just think of using c4 to blow out a wall to get into an enemy bunker. And artillary making holes in the ground. bringing down the large cranes towers in gulf of Oman etc.
but then you would get those people who would burrow down 1000 ft or just go around making holes in the terrain... it would be cool though if you had a group of serious players and the damage was realistic. like u were hidin around a corner and a tank took off a big chunk of it tryin to get to you?!? ah well maybe in the future.... red faction is the game u are thinkin of by the way..
You mean Red Faction? Then yes, I used to burrow, then I would have nothing to do so killed myself and started over.
Everyone would spend all game just blowing stuff up for the fun of it and not fighting. I can just see everyone cluster-c4-fucking the crane to take it down. Lol!!! look its falling!!1one
Meanwhile on USS Essex, the team killers would be busy putting holes in it watching it go down.

LOL didnt think about the essex... that would be funny as hell seeing that poor ship become swiss cheese from constant bombartment of planes, helis, and of course your own teammates wanting to do it for shits.
blow holes in the road on karkand so no vehicles can pass by... haha that would be lots of fun.
but also, teammates would just blow up runways so you couldnt take off with "their" jet.

yea but when you do that u have the same problem all the god damn time...the structure u blow up or critically hit it always lands in the same position
Red Faction imitated destructable environments through real-time subtraction brushes (or at least that's what I'm guessing, due to its behavior). The complexity of the static meshes in BF2, not to mention the size of the terrain, would make "destructable maps" an improbability. About as close as you could get to it would be to insert "fence-like" structures within buildings, to act as destructable walls. However, you're not going to see warehouses collapse until DICE decides to build a Battlefield with Ageia PhysX in mind.
It'd be rad to see buildings crumble to wreckage like they did in some MOH games when you blast them with a tank
Anyone played Comanche 4? That game pretty much centered around explosions. Blow up a T-72, BOOM you can't see through the orange. When it clears, the turret is 10 feet away. Warehouse. Hey there's a guy inside it. Blow up the warehouse. I don't know how they did it but that would be fun.
"dammit that guy just ducked behind a building"
"...wait a minute"
*tank cannon fires*
*wall collapses*
Guy1 [Killed] Guy2
