Ok, i recently upgraded my system, but thanks to microsoft and dodgy programming, i needed to reinstall XP onto my drive. The problem is that i cant access anything from my old drive even from the new stuff because i password locked my account on the last drive cos it was a shared computer. So naturally for the second time i am left to lose everything and start over. So i reinstall bf2, retrieve my account, and go into the games browser. Though when i try to enter a game, it says that my cd key is invalid.

Does anyone know a way around this? Is it a conflict between the 2 existing copies of the game? Will i need to format the old drive to get it working?

Any help appreciated.

Send an Email to EA, they can issue a new cd-key.

i think you need to reclaim ownership over the hard drive partition again. I'm not certain how its done but i think that it can be done if you start in safe mode.

Had this happen to me a few times. To get over it i had to do the following:

Go to C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\Support\ and run Battlefield 2_code.exe. Re-enter your key code and then re run the 1.22 patch ( i ran the full patch ). It doesn't take long but you need to re-run the patch to re encrypt your cd key.

Hope this fixes it.

The way I got around this (well, very similar) problem is by entering the CDKey into the registry. I can't remember which one, you'll have to google that.

I've had this problem many times! DICE sux, I guess.
just re-patch the game and it should be back to normal (usually no need to do full re-install).

They do. Had this happen with BF1942, only my key got hacked or something.... tried everything and it didn't work. (Key invalid due to multiple users blah blah blah..). Had to send in my cd's as proof of ownership. Was very pissed. Got my cd's back about a week or 2 later, and a new cd key emailed to me. About 1 month later I recieved another package from EA. Another copy of BF1942 with a new cd key...

Now most people would be confused or displeased, but I just gave it to my girlfriend and we had loads of fun playing desert combat together

Hey

If you go to play on the internet and it says cdkey is invalid, do the following:

Click Start.
Go to Run.
Type regedit and hit OK button.
Click on plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Click on plus sign next to SOFTWARE.
Double click on Electronic Arts folder.
Double click on EA Games folder.
Double click on Battlefield 2 folder.
Double click on ergc folder.
Data displayed will probably have x9392 only.
Right click on it and select Modify.
Type in x9392 and then your CD key.
note: don't include hyphens.

Its worked for me, give it a try...
