Whoo! Im on a roll with all these threads about 2142!

Anyway like the title says, what games do you think could "REALISTICLY" Be made, and by that I mean games that can be made, none of that Bf1300 bullshit

Oh and these games assume something new is out, like a new engine or graphics processor
These are my thoughts

-Remake 1942 with the scoring system/new engine/Destructible environment!

-Remake BF2 with a new engine, so no more bugs and of course a, (wait for it)         Destructible environment!

-Create a cold war alternate game based on BF's kit stuff

-Remake 2142, based on what the consumers thought of it, and add in said environment that is destructible

-Next gen warfare, using new engine, 2142's style of customizing guns Ect and the Destructible environment!

-Create BF2, but in a different style, like make it based mainly around a fictional war, I.e Germany Russia China and Japan form an army and attack the world, leaving Australia, america, The UK and others to fight them, (Oh yes I am biased) again, with Ranks, medals, unlocks, and said environment

-Make BF2 a total priority and just create shitloads of maps, armies, styles, modes WHICH ARE FREE CONTENT!

And my personal favorite two

-Battlefield EARTH! Yeah, basically like planetside BF, But ranging all over the earth! Set in the future (2142 Maybe?) But none of that ice bullshit, story is that there are THREE armies/coalitions that rage war over the earth, to gain recourses, A total Planetside rip-off with there being two types of ranks, battle ranks and command ranks, anyone over a certain command rank could lead a platoon/squad and choose where to attack, but first discussing it with his peers, a senate like system could be implemented, with players being able to revoke privileges to declare war on areas, also like planetside, two teams could ally for a while, to wipe the remaining army off the map, and then fight one on one, Three way battles could happen too

-Take battlefield earth and just port it to any era, say BF2, 1942 ect,

If you want to find out what the bloody hell Im compairing this too, Check www.planetside.com, the guns look the same, yes?

None the less, I still love all Bf2 games! However, the layout of Vietnam just plain sucked, no effort at all

i like BF1300.

honestly.  you don't think chariots, swords, spears, and throwing really big rocks would be fun?

what about catapults and trebuchets...and riding horses into battle....and pouring boiling oil on people from atop the castle walls...

...and wenches!  you can't forget to include wenches!

Forget the rest.

Wenches only. And maybe some ale.

FFS! How the hell would you code an fps that involved swords? God, it would be one diving bunnyhopping fest! Unless you can tell me how you would balance it and how combat would happen, refrain from swords and the like

Saark's excited for 2142. And want's destructable environments, (I'm with ya bro.)

I reckon an 'ultimate' Battlefield game would be awesome. It would cover from probably something like the Boer War, or World War One, and span to 2142. You'd fight in World war Two, Vietnam - all major conflicts, and some, (post BF2,) made up ones.

To be fair, it would make tracking stats a bit tricky - "How many kills with blunderbuss," "How much time in a Mech." can be pretty confusing - but a Battlefield game that dosn't just focus on one period in time would be sweet.

Oh yes, and with Detructable environments!

I think im making that my next title

Would be abit hard, because players who didnt play from the start would miss out, and if that was to happen, it would turn into planetside! (Whoray!) I S*** on monthly fees, NEVER EVER WILL I PAY FOR A GAME THAT I ALREADY BOUGHT!

In retrospect, I should have not cared about 2142, because now im going to be dissapointed if it sucks, When BF2 was out, I was all like, yeah thats cool, and around christmas, I bought it, and it turned out much better,

No lasers ftw!

I read an interview with a programmer at dice about how much bandwidth it'd take to have destructable invironments, for blocks of concrete and tiny bits of concrete to be "sent out" to 64 different computers would take up a huge amount of bandwidth on the server.

A lot of your regular servers today wouldn't be able to cope on a massive scale.

It would be very cool to have the game take place in the 1700s. We have so many good things going on in that time frame (war wise)

1. American revolution
2.french and Indian War
3. Nepolion (dont care that i missed spelled it)

Just think of the chaos that would be taking place...musket fire and smoke filling the battlefield, artillery creating havok and no more chopper/plane/tank/apc/stinger/anti-tank bitching. get 64 players in a dese forest that is tranquil and clear....minutes pass and you start to hear musket fire and see plumes of smoke. my god think of the awsomeness

Alright, you're good to go!

You asked for them, so here they are:

BF1300 kits by [QXJZ] Capt_Kefra

Archer: Like the sniper, the archer gets a composite longbow and a quiver of arrows.  He moves very quickly but only wears leather armor.  He takes awhile to nock the next arrow, but his shafts fly straight and true.  With his trusty dagger he can silently dispatch distracted enemies.  He also carries the notorious, claymore-esque Bear Claw Trap, so he doesn't get pwned when sniping at distant chariots.

Heavy Crossbowman: The equivalent of an assault soldier, he gets a heavy crossbow with armor-piercing bolts.  He wears plate mail to fend off incoming arrows and blades, but consequently can't run very far.  Since he's a big, brawny guy, he can re-cock the bow with speed, and his melee weapon, a heavy mace, is very damaging.  To cause a distraction, he carries the flask of oil which in addition to creating heavy smoke, causes the ground to burst into flame, damaging anyone who isn't watching their step.

Light Crossbowman: The medieval era's answer to the Spec Ops kit, the Light Crossbowman wears chainmail, giving him a good balance of speed and defense.  His light crossbow reloads quickly, but its bolts do less damage, especially to enemies in heavy armor.  He carries caltrops (dice-sized metal barbs that always land with a point up no matter how they are thrown) to deter mounts, and Ye Olde Shovel to quickly dig trenches to stop oncoming chariots.  His short sword, while lacking in reach, is well suited to his primary job.

Blacksmith: The 14th-century equivalent of the Engineer, the Blacksmith wears a metal skin of banded mail and charges into battle with a two-handed warhammer and a sling.  The former is a devastating, one-hit kill in melee, while the latter is somewhat inaccurate and ineffective, but adequate in a pinch.  With his flint and tinder he can repair trebuchets, re-shoe horses, disable traps, and so forth.

Wench: The stereotypical damsel-in-distress runs into battle unarmored, but with a large shield strapped to her arm, behind which she can take cover to stop any attack (though leaving herself immobile and open to a back-stab).  She offers Ale to wounded soldiers and the Kiss of Life to critically wounded ones (sexist, I know, but come on, you think Political Correctness existed in 1300?).  If threatened, she can administer a Flail to the opponent, or chuck darts at them.

Quartermaster: The arms-bearer of the medieval army, the Quartermaster carries a large knapsack from which he can produce any sort of ammunition required: sling bullets, darts, arrows, bolts, whatever.  Since these munitions are heavy, he wears full plate mail to compensate for a lack of mobility.  He swings a two-handed sword and fires a repeating crossbow.  Despite his heavy armor, however, he is quite easy to outmaneuver and often falls in melee combat.

Possible vehicles include the Trebuchet, Catapult, Siege Tower, Ballista, Chariot, Mount (Steed), Rickshaw...pretty much anything that sounds like it would fit.

Very easy; 3rd person switch. Swords have been in many fps games, do a search there are a lot out there that incorporate melee battle against ranged battle and they work well.

Really? Huh. You're right. You caught me out. I blame my poor frozen fingers.
You didn't notice that I spelled 'Sarrk" incorrectly though.

Coolbeano's got it right. Using lightsabers in Jedi Academy was the same, and that worked really well.

Edit: DAMMIT! So close to getting my post time to be 11:11:11!
Bugger, I'll try again tomorrow.
