The F-14 is officially out of service. The F-117 is a child of modern day technology, unfortunately, that same technology is going to kill it. When you think about it, it is alreay outdated. The aircraft only has two weapons bays, and it cannot defend itself against any airborn threats in ANY dogfighting situations, not to mention that it can now be tracked by some radars that pick up atmospheric turbulance. The cost of maintaining it, training t's pilots, and keep producing them is far beyond the value of keeping them around. The way that I see it, the F-117 was a working prototype that was used in the military and has given the us a springboard into new technology for the next generation ATF fighters.
Sad but true, UAV's are the way of future first strike weaopns for the US military. There is no pilot risk. They are cheaper to produce, and will blanket the skies in future conflicts.
That being said, as far as current aircraft wishes for the game is concerned, I'd love to see an Osprey in there. Dispite the fact that they will more than likely be scrapped for the Marines.
Other weaopns that I'd personally like to see:
1) a C-130 arial spawnpoint that can be repositioned by the commander, as well as being able to be shot down via jets.
2) Panavia Tornado ground attack aircraft with cluster bomb dispenser (1 drop per pass of airfield) More for sepression of troops and medium dammage to armor.
3) MLRS (multiple rocket launch system), instead of Arty on certain maps. Same Effect, but AT, Armor, or any other vehicle capable of destroying them has to hunt them down. It'll give armor a new objective other than whoring infantry.
Just my .02 here.
