Hi guys,

still getting the same graphical/software lag as i started getting with 1.22. The game loads fine, get to the server list and starts to load the servers in groups of 20 and is really slow. then when i finally join a game, i cant play it because there seems to be a lot of graphical lag.

got all the latest drivers, not got my graphic settings set at anything my GPU cant handle.

at first with patch 1.22 i thought it was a ping issue because my usual 20-50 ping on the UK servers seemed to be hanging around at between 100-150. but then i reverted back to patch 1.21 and deliberately played on high ping servers to see is it was the same. but it was far from it. with patch 1.21 i can play the game on servers with pings as high as 190 without too many problems.

so then i thought maybe it was my graphics card (ATI X800XL AGP), but then i changed this to my MSI NX6600 PCI-E card to see if this would solve the problem. but NO i can still not play the game because of the graphical/software lag.

Tried all of the Tweaks that badhq has suggested but none of them work.

So i am hoping that someone else is having a similar problem and maybe has a solution. Been trying to log into the EA support to get some help but there web site seems complete bollocks now, you try and log in and it takes you to ea.pogo.com or something like that, then if you log in another way it takes you to another login screen! soooo stupid, they obviously known they have messed up yet again so dont want people logging in to complain.

PLEASE HELP! +1 for everyone who tries to help

edit:
my specs are
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 2048MB RAM
Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2
Card name: RADEON X800 Series / MSI NX6600
HDD: MAXTOR 180 GB

I have a very similar PC...almost like yours.

I have the same prob as well and couldn't find ny remedy. I think it's somehow related to Hyper-threading, but even if you disable the "simulated" CPU the problem remains.

Sorry, no solution from me.

Check what graphics settings you have, if they set to high change it to low see irf that helps.

Thanks mate for your help but the patch didn't change the video settings.

It doesn't matter where I set my video...in every 1 minute the FPS going down to 15 from 60 for around 5 seconds.
Although I noticed that it usually happens when flying vehicles are in visual range...especially choppers.

Do you have any programs running in Bg bro ? spywere, antipopups, or anything like that ?

also try this when you ingame

open console and type in

pb_sleep 500
pb_writecfg

see if that helps you Bro

Thx badhq!

I know how to delay Punkbuster...no that's not the solution.

Nothing is running in the background...I reduce even the services in XP to minimum...I'm a windows purist:)

No spyware, adware, trojan or virus.

...my ping is genreally between 16-38...I have 5Mbps/512kbps connection...not wireless.

Hi!

I'm not usually the one to write on forums like this, but I had the same kind of error/problem for a while, and I managed to solve it! Don't know if this will help you out, but here goes:

I have Mcafee firewall installed. I always disable it when I play BF2. I too had some trouble with the latest (1.22) patch. The game would totally lag in multiplayer, but worked just fine in singleplayer.

The solution: Mcafee firewall, even though disabled, didn't know of me patching BF2. I never approved BF2 for network access in Mcafee. When I reactivated the firewall, and started BF2, the firewall prompted for what to do with BF2. I allowed it network access, and the lag was gone! Now there is no problems any longer with my firewall (or BF2). The "funny" thing is the amount of lag (200+ms) I experienced when the firewall was DISABLED. Once the firewall knew of BF2, there is no problem with it, even when it is disabled!

I know many of you having troubles with 1.30 patch, can you at least take the time to look at other threads, there are many people with same problems, please do not make new post if sum one has same problems as you and he has made the post already. Thank you

Ok here is what I found  this might fixit for sum

First off Install full patch not "incremet" ( this should fix most of the problems )
Update Punkbuster After new patch ( full install ) update your PB, you can find out how to auto update PB in general chat section of this forums ( titled top 10 tweak guids )

To steps above should fix the problems also found this on other forums that might help

1. I found this sorted, my problems out, alternatively you just need to switch your PC to run with just 1 cpu (in window task manager, right click BF2.exe, select affinity- deselect one of the cpu's and away you go!)

2.If that dont work dude, try turning Hyperthreading off in your BIOS. Done the trick for me, I had the exact same problem.
I dont have Dual processors though but if the above post don't work give it a bash.

3.Video settings check make sure they set to low ( only for now just to see if it helps our problem )

4. After new patch update your PB, you can find out how to auto update PB in general chat section of this forums ( titled top 10 tweak guids )

This should help few of you Enjoy

MAN you are a GOD in my eyes!

didnt even think it would be a firewall problem. I have McAfee Firewall and Virus scan on my computer, but the firewall subscription ran out a few weeks before patch 1.22, so it was sitting on my computer but as far as i was aware it was disabled because i hadnt paid any more money to update the subscription.
So i thought it was maybe the Windows firewall doing something, but i would disable this too, so i thought i had two disabled firewalls.

Once i read your situation though, i deleted McAfee Firewall off my system, and guess what, everythign is fine now.

SO badhq, add this to you list, if you have McAfee Firewall on your system but the subscription has run out and it seems to be disable, then delete it completely off your computer otherwise it might cause the problem which i had.

+1 for both you guys!
