punkbuster had me go through a run around but I still get the problem too...i tried reinstalling and now the freakin game exits after loading to about 59%...trying it again...

*Note* This step will only work for a user who is running Windows XP Pro
Make sure your account is an administrator account.
go to run...
type gpedit.msc
press enter
browse to
Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Secutiry Settings ->
Local Policies-> User Rights Assignment
Find the policy named "Act as part of the operating system" and double-click it
Click the button named "Add User or Group"
In the text entry field type your user account name.
Click Okay
Click Apply
*Note* This step is available to all Windows XP users (XP Home and Pro)
go to run
type "cmd" without the quotes
press enter
be sure to have you windows xp installation cd ready
type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes
press enter
restart the computer
also he said make sure security software is off and your windows account is an administrative account with a password....hope it works for you

besides, this is also not 'new' at all. there are a few threads on this in the 'help' section with (at least attempts at) fixes...
Or u can log in with admin account and right click the bf2 image and select run as put the info of the user account in there... then it should work in the user accountHyper wrote:

I think you're doing quite well just to have a viable solution to it. Most of us that get random PB kicks never find out why.

Only I am the admin and a virus has taken over my computer, small problem here
Since no virus scanner or anything I tried works against this virus (its somewhere in the windows files), formatting my computer is the only option??? Or does someone has some other advice??
