In my opinion: No.

Sure the m95 has a faster reload time and it also pierces auto-glass, but is it really better?

The reload time bonus is practically negligent, and how many times have we really shot a pilot or driver out of a car? I've only done it once when the chopper pilot was hovering perfectly still over the flag, and even then it took me about 4 shots to actually kill him. It was pretty damn sweet though.

I've found that since i've gone back to using my m24 my shots have connected a lot more. The scope is way easier to use and when i line up head shots, THEY ACTUALLY CONNECT. For instance i was playing Sharqui today and was trying to pick out enemies from the Construction site with my m95. I lined up 3 perfect goddamn headshots and none of them killed. Quite ridiculous.

I've decided to swear off the m95 completely when I'm USMC and only use it when I have no other option but a shitty auto-sniper.

I prefer the M95 only because I've gotten so used to it's feel, like bullet drop, how to aim, etc. It's weird, but I prefer the M95 over L96.

Indeed, but i would take the m24 when playing SF depending on what map.

Ghost town would be the only level i would take the m95, becuase you can sit in that tower and snipe anyone that tries to take them choppers

M95, same accuracy, just fatter reticule.

There's a secret way to aim the reticule so that it acts like an M24, but thou must discover that thou-self.

Think of it this way, the M95 is good if your going against troops the may have body armor, planing to camp a main airfield, or at medium to long range. The M24 is better all around because it makes less noise when fired and has smaller cross hairs.

all 1 and 2 shot kill sniper rifles(M24, L96, M95) have the same accuracy and take the same amount of health of way depending where you shoot the enemy.  It really depends on the situation of which sniper rifle would be the best choice.  Like Foley said, for example, the M95 would be better if you plan on shooting people out of their cockpits.

No, the M24/L96A1 do about 65-70% damage to chest shots with people with body armor while the M95 dose 96% damage to everyone in a chest shot.

this is old news and there are a million threads about this

you have to be kind of stupid to think that the unlocks are upgrades.
when i unlocked the m95 i was immediately dissapointed and went back to the m24 which had a smaller crosshair and was more accurate.
much rather have the gun that will guarantee a headshot in one attempt when the driver gets in the jeep turret to gun me down rather than when he's swerving around in the driver seat.

okay, The M95 has LESS accuracy than both the M24 and the L9, and the L9 and M24 both have the same accuracy.

(body shots) They all do the same amount of damage to a troop with out body armor (brings them down to 2 bars), but the M95 brings troops with body armor down to 2 bars anyways, and the L9 does marginally more than the M24 to a troop with no body armor, but still less than the M95.

(head shot) 1 shot kill.

and the M95 has an added bonus of shooting through glass. But the M95 has thick crosshairs which makes it hard to line up head shots at a longer distance.

Yeah. That was the joke. :\

Anywho, if the L96 and M24 are pretty damn close, should I even bother getting the L96 at all?

M95 is nice on CQC maps like sharqi, or when you are fairly close to an enemy flag, I like the phat Xhairs in those cases, otherwise, its back to the L96

All the sniper rifles have their uses for ability, even the semi-autos.  For me, I prefer medium to long distance headshots over glass penetrating ability.  Thus, I prefer the M24 over the M95.  However, you better believe I'll swap weapons, without a second thought, if the enemy pilots are killing our team quicker than their infantry.  One thing I notice about chopper pilots, is that even if you don't headshot them, they tend to run when they either take a body shot, or you're whittling away at their vehicle's health.  That being said, I do prefer the L96 over the M24, and not just because of quicker reload and draw times, or the thinner reticle.  I JUST LOVE THE RIFLE REPORT THAT THE L96 GIVES!!!

In conconclusion, I don't feel that I can vote, based on the fact that I think all the sniper rifles are useful.

Depends upon if you're an avid sniper player.  If the answer is yes, then it's a definite must have, IMHO.  However, if you prefer other kits, the M24 will suit you fine, unless you're wanting something comparable to the M24 when you're not playing on the USMC side.

I'm proficient with all sniper rifles now EXCEPT the Chinese Type 88. I just really don't like it.
Everything else is peachy. I put down my M95 for a long time but have finally picked it up gain and am enjoying it immensly. It's a great friend to go camping by the enemy runway with.

The L96A1 is my weapon of choice though.

So far correct...but you forget the damage of the M95 to vehicles, which is double compared to M24/L96A1.
You can not only shoot through glass and headshot the pilot,no,you can seriously damage the chopper and sometimes get 2 kills with 1 bullet(if the chopper's already smokin').
4 hits right on the cockpit are half the energy (10 bars) of an attack chopper.

On maps where there's a lot of chopper action I choose the M95,on other maps I vary between the L96A1 and M24.
I rarely play USMC since I got my Navy Cross,so when I'm US I often choose the M24 over the L96A1,but that's just personal preference.

On SF maps I always opt for the Dragunov, there's so much fog or darkness on those maps that the SVD isn't excelled by the M95 in terms of range and on medium ranges you are better off with a less powerful but much more faster semiautomatic fire.
And besides the quick-fire ability of the SVD it's best to treat every shot as if it's fired from a bolt-action,you gotta take your time between shots.
I always hear someone on the SF maps firing with the SVD too quickly, like a normal assault rifle in single-shot mode, that's way too fast to keep the shots accurate.
If you really practice with the SVD and know the impact point of the chevron you can actually be as deadly as with the L96A1,and headshot-kills from a Dragunov really piss players off.

THE M95 is better... if ur any good at sniping you will realize that its easier to judge the drop long range... and you caqn certainly take out choppers and cars. i get 5+ window shots a day..... and maybe 1 choopper every 2 days.. granted, its awful for close range but for that L96A!... you should never use the M24 if u have all unlocks... because the L9 is better... and you can use it regardless of team. I mean, i can use all the rifles... but i would never pick the m24
