Have they done away with Sergeant Major of the Corps?

I've noticed how many, many 2nd Lieutenants there are now. I have heard that the best performing Sergeant Major is promoted to Sergeant Major of the Corps. How can there be so many 2nd Lieutenants when all Sgt.Majors have to go through this "tunnel" to being an officer?

U don't have to be Sergeant Major of the Corps. to get to 2nd Lieutenant... U can skip it and go straight from
Sergeant Major to 2nd Lieutenant

I havent' got a slightest clue if the rank exists anymore, but the rank isn't and never has been a compulsary "step" on the rank ladder. It's.. horizontal promotion...?

It's higher than Sergeant Major obviously and there's the advantage when applying to be commander example

I've seen someone who has it. They were a sergeant major when the patch came out that lowered 2nd lieutenant to 60,000, and he never got the patch so he's the "best" sergeant major in the game until he patches his/her game.

I think the rank still does exist, but a guy named Petke holds the title, and will most likely forever hold this title because he is the only SM with more than 60,000 points (he stopped playing a while ago, before the rank requirements were changed).

"Tunnel" was reffering to the fact that if all Sgt.Maj's had to get to that rank before they could get to 2nd Lieuteant.

And I'm only curious because it's not like the Master Sergeant/First Sergeant or Master Gunnery Sergeant/Sergeant Major relationship.

Infact, now that I think of it, it used to be that 2nd Lt. was the highest rank there was, and Sgt.Maj of the Corps was there to act like a difficult step on the ladder. I guess with all of the rest of the officer ranks, there is no reason for it.

Petke did have it, but has now recently been promoted to a colonel.

Chances are there will be a new SMOTC this next upcoming month. The question is how long do they hold it if they become a 2nd Lt., and does someone fill that role when the previous SMOTC is promoted? Who knows?

I have 53k points or something, after I got 50k it said my next rank was the gold bar. Then I played a round, and now in my BFHQ it always says my next rank IS SMOTC. The progress bar is full, so I dunno. Maybe im the next one.....
