My video card died a couple days ago, I got a new one and now every game works but BF2. It starts up, screen goes black and then back to desktop.
Did you switch from an nVidia card to ATi or vice versa? Usually that'll screw you up. There's a driver cleaner out on the net that will remove ALL tracers of card drivers but I cant remember the name. Google it, use it then install the latest drivers for the new card. May also help to update the drivers for your sound card also if you have one rather then onboard sound.
If that doesnt work, completely uninstall BF2, including all folders, then reinstall all of it, including patches.

yep when my 6800 gt crashed, I installed my radeon 9200 and bf2 wouldnt start up. I had to reinstall it completly.
i switched from NVIDIA to ATI, worked fine....
It's an nVidia, same as the last I use the 77.79 drivers. I rememered I did a system restore to see if it was a problem with the software and not the device. So I am in the process of reinstalling 1.3 to see if it changes anything. Thanks for your suggestion.
