But in actuality, you die if you jump off a bridge that's high enough. Water's surface tension is extremely powerful and the surface actually gets harder to break the faster something moves at it. So at a height like that of the Golden Gate Bridge, the impact would break every bone in your body and kill you.
A bullet fired from a high powered rifle not far from the water will actually explode on impact and miss its target due to the shattering.
So if a body falls 2000 meters out of the sky...well....it'll have more than just the bruises that my sniper ended up with

Also, i dunno if this works but irl if you jumped off the golden gate bridge and instead of hitting the water flat, you hit the water like you were diving you could possibly survive. So remember, if you happen to be falling without a parachute, dive into the water.
I've also heard stories about people surviving falling from really high onto snow, becuase it softened the impact so much.

You can survive from high velocity impacts into water, but you have to break the surface somehow first. If you hit it with your head for example, you would break your neck easily. Landing with your hands out first hits it with a smaller surface area, and is more likely to break the waters surface enough for you to land without hurting yourself too much. Although you are more than likely to break your fingers/arms. Similar if you land feet-first.
