My buddy came over a few weeks ago, and setup an account on my machine, today he went out and bought the game himself, is there a way to just transfer the user profile to his computer, or do you have to retrieve it from EA?

the only reason I ask, is cause I've got his computer here, he's at home sleeping, and I don't know his password so I can't retrieve his account....

if there's a way, please tell me what files to copy over, I thought it would be the "Profiles" folder in ~my docs/BF2~ but if that's where they are, there must be extra files in there that keep it from going, cause when I copied that folder over, it just crashed when I tried to load it.....

Thanks in advance,

Account information isn't stored on your computer. You don't have to transfer anything to your friends computer, all he has to do is click 'retrieve account' on the login page and enter his login and password.

there's something on your computer that says which accounts have been accessed on your computer, and weather the password has been saved, otherwise you'd have to retrieve your account every time you logged on.....

Trust me, I've reinstalled windows on my computer several times, and I backup my "My Documents" and "Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield2" folders every time that way all I have to do is install the program so that windows know's it's there, then transfer the files back.

When I'm done, I click the little brown 2 on my task bar, and start playing.....

there is a way without transfering over a gig of data, I'm looking for someone who knows which files to transfer...

There is a profile folder. its for your game settings. not RAW account info. that is all Server side. so yeah if he want's to just lcopy his profile folder over etc. and not have to redo his personel key configs, video settings, audio, etc etc. then yeah no problem.. but stat's, info , medals. thats all server side

there's something that keeps it from working, if I transfer the file "profile.con" the account shows up in his login dialog, but the passwords aren't transfered....

*EDIT* I know the medals and everything aren't stored locally, that's fine, I'm just looking for the account information.... I can get the username to show, just not the password.....

Exactly. It's not worth the effort to copy over the configuration files, unless for some reason your friend customized every single key. Everything of value, your stats and the like, is kept server side and can be retrieved with a login and password.

the fact that it's 3:30 AM he's at his home several miles away and sleeping, and I don't have his password... it's stored locally on my computer, but I'm trying to setup his computer.....

he hasn't set anything on my computer, left it all default, but if I can have his computer running in the morning, rather than walking him through how to retrieve his account, all will be better
