I've seen this done a few times, where the player crouches in the turret but can still shoot. How is this done?

Its just a graphics bug.
Hes not actualy crouching, its just a glich that makes him invisible. It is possible to crouch but then it is impossible to shoot so it is just a glich. Ive noticed this a few times and climbed on top of the tank(he was frendly) and looked in the turret and there was noone there unlike the crouched body you would see if he was crouched in the turret.
I think that he is hacking.

but are the hitboxes still at where he's crouched in the turret? i was on karkand where i witnessed this with a sniper rifle. i tried hitting him several times with the M95 at very close range and all missed, eventually i just chucked a grenade in the back of his vodnik but it was still annoying.

To everyone, since I can not quote you all, this is a feature of the game. You can duck into tank turrets to hide from getting killed from snipers.

We are aware of that dubbs, but what the original poster is saying that he seen someone crouched in a turret and was still shooting.

I've seen this a couple times, too. Pretty annoying because it seems to affect the hitbox. When I shot at where the person should have been, I didn't get anything.
Nice to see I'm not the ONLY person playing BF2 on the lowest graphical settings.
I've come across this bug before, and every time I've been able to pop a few rounds where his body/head should be and I get registered hits and a kill.
