Earlier this morning, I was on a 16/64 wake server, I stole the J-10 with my pattented Grand J-10 Theft Move (See Sig) and got 25 kills, 0 deaths, and got the aerial service ribbon, which I wasnt going for, but was a nice suprise

Towards the end, the server crashed, its been ages, and my points have updated but the badge hasnt

Do you get badges even if the server crashes?

i dont think so as the server only uploads your points at the end of the round. (correct me if im wrong)

You have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play better than anyone else.

You're right , the other day my squad mate had a crash to desktop while on 140+ points and a Legion Of Merit ribbon. After the crash he haistily posted a rant on these forums and to EA , but the next day he checked his stats and the ribbon was there and 130+ of his points. My guess is the stats are sent to EA at certain time intervals and not just at the conclusion of a round.

By the way after updating my punkbuster with pbsetup.exe i dont get any CTD issues , small amounts of server lag at the beginning of a round but hey thats a problem thats been there from day 1. If your having issues try updating punkbuster it helped here :-)

Same thing happened to me, some fag admin kicked me for flying in my plane and getting my basic aviator badge(I suck at flying) and then the next day my badge was there.

Kicking/Disconnecting from server is different that the server actually going offline without the round ending

definitely not. you wont get the ribbons, i once had 3 (yes three) ribbons in one round practically on the same moment (its a goddamn shame that I did not take a screen shot, was flying the Helli), meritorious unit ribbon&helicopter service ribbon&distinguished service ribbon. I was also going for first place on a clan server. Suddenly, connection lost, back to server search screen. I reacted really quick and rejoined the same server. I was amazed at first, because i joined and still had my points the same as i was disconnected!!! Thrilled I continued the round, did not have first place anymore, no problem i thought, I'm getting THREE ribbons anyway. NOT!!! After three days the points weren't added and my ribbons did not show up. Eventually I got the ribbons one by one the days after that, but I it wasn't as fun as getting 3 in one round. Looks really nice in the stats no? BF2 is the greatest on line game ever, but EA should really be alert when it comes to this kind of things and BAD PATCHES. (just bought EF but can't play it because of patch1.3)

actually when i got my vet pistol badge I got kicked from the server later in the round, but i still got it once the system updated..... dunno

Sorry to tell, but you lost it. I got the same problem multiple times. For example, I had to get 25 healing points in a round TWICE because the server crashed when I first got it . Now THAT was hard, it seems to take ages... But, important thing, I have it.

And, the aerial service ribbon shouldn't be that hard to get if you ask me, especially in wake!
