So I was commanding last night, and one of the squad leaders called me "sir" over VOIP.  I got a kick out of it.

I should've told him to choke himself, lol.

I always refer to my superiors as "Sir" where appropriate. I show respect to them, as long as they are doing a good job. Otherwise, its just "command" or "idiot".

You poke fun at something that is just completely pointless. Theres nothing wrong with showing respect to a stranger, its sad that so many 10 year olds with bad mouths play this game.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't mean to poke fun.  If you knew me, you'd know I'm not typically commanding of the title "sir."  I just found it odd, that's all.

i think all people lower in rank should respect their supiriors (however the fuck u spell it) i say some private hastling a colonel the other day absolutly shit talkin him sayin "u faggot hacker ur lucky ur not sitting next to me or ill shove my foot up your ass" thats mean cuz the colonel just entered the server and killed him. everyone told him to stfu but he didnt. we need more respect for higher ranked players privates shouldnt say stuff to colonels like that

You shouldnt deserve respect based on rank... thats retarded
a)ppl work and go to school for a living
b)Rank means nothing
and c)on a graph, in which axis is rank and the other is life, the line is curved.  high rank=no life   low rank=usually the ppl who deserve some respect

The line between game and life has blurred for some.  My girlfriend's cousin (~8 years old) describes Mario & Luigi as his "friends."  That breaks my heart.

Hahaha, OMG Mario and Luigi as his friends!!! AHAHAHA!

I can imagine his parents telling the child, "Ok, son, just because your friends jump off a cliff doesn't mean you should.... they have extra lives and YOU DON'T!"

When friends ask me why I don't do in-game voip, I send them links of videos with little shits cussing and screaming like a rude sailor (no offense fubarjohnny).

Children just aren't beaten often enough these days.  At 10 years old or so, I wouldn't have known HOW to talk like some of the kids I've heard in games.   Then again, when I was 10, it was the mid 80's and MTV and media in general weren't teaching kids to think this was cool.

That's a bias point of view, concidering that most people who say that have low ranks (no offense). I cant defend playing 2000 hours, but what I can say is that a lot of the high rank players (colonels and up) do have lives besides this game, the problem is most player prejudge them and immediately either call out "Hax" or "You have no life go get some fresh air". Sorry, but some people consider this game a hobby and I see nothing wrong with spending most of your free time online playing this game especially if you are good. And yes playing longer and having a higher rank does mean that player is likely to be more skilled then you are. However, dont look at them as a player with a high rank but instead look at them as a stranger you met on the street. Most BF2 players would think twice about speaking to another person the way they speak in BF2. I know I'm guilty of this aswell.
