have you tried deleting the graphics cache files?

edit: actually, someone else here had that problem. I can't remember where/what the thread is though. Could be in 'Tech'

get a little program called 'battlefield 2 cleaner', it does it for you (as well as a couple of other things)

http://games.softpedia.com/get/Tools/Ba … aner.shtml

edit: i just re-read your error message - i doubt the cleaner will fix that, actually. it deletes old graphics cache files, meaning BF2 has to create one up-to-date one, which can decrease load times. I thought it was one of the cache files which it would then replace when you delete it, but it's not, it a core component by the looks of it.

I'll try and chase up that other thread i mention in my edit above

Sorry Strykker, but that looks more like a virus spoof, than it does anything coming from EA. They don't use _DO_ or (Really) in their tech writeups.

AVG has a good virus scanner. Good luck!

idk but i got the  same error message when i was adding SF to my game when it was already patched to 1.3. I ended up reinstalling everything, bf2, sf, 1.3, ef, 1.3, af.

but did it work? without fooling with the registry?

it would be good to know so that others that have this problem in the future can look in here and know whether it's just a matter of a reinstall, or if there is anything else they need to do...

I had that exact same problem, it was something to do with some faulty RAM for me i think.

but yeah, it does seem like a virus....
