You can get rid of the intro movies. Search for BadHQ's post about it. Also, I read in another post that before you click "join", check the box for auto ready over and over until you hear a click before you join. I'm too lazy to search for you, sry. Hope that helps

I think he was asking how to stop the crashing lol. As far as the videos go, you still have the wait the same approximate time in a black screen as you do when you watch and esc out of the trailer.

But if you wait for the game to automatically enter the game without clicking join or esc, there's a higher chance that you won't crash. It's been working for me since i tried it. Then when the server switches map, it becomes safe to click on join.

I dont know if this will work for you but I have to join an empty server the first time when starting game. Then when I come out I can join other servers without any trouble.

this makes it go faster

just go to your icon on the desktop rick click it go to properties in the part where it says "Target" change it to "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +restart +playerName "M4st3rSquirrel" +playerPassword "WTF?" LEAVE THE "'s just copy paste this in and change it to your name and password
  but ya the crashing is 1.3 i reinstalled my patch and it works better now
