Just today I discovered a little BF2 start up trouble my computer was/is having. On a frest restart or bootup, my computer will start BF2 with little fuss, albeit slowly, but still started up. It would then play without error. After I'd quit and try to start it a second time (after a break from BF2) everything would start to load up with that big "BATTLEFIELD 2" tile on the screen. After about a minute, a windows error report would appear and I wouldn't be able to start BF2. The only way I would, would be to restart my computer and start BF2, but for obvious reasons this is impractical and damn annoying.  I've also had the idea of opening and closing my cd drive and starting up off the autoplay. Nope. From there I'd get a "Please Insert Disc" message no matter how long it was since I closed the drive. So far, I've uninstalled everything, reinstalled, repatched, ran Adaware and cleaned my cd. I plan to soon defrag the drive but I don't see that really helping the problem any.

Now, I don't mean to sound like a repost, but I've seen this problem on several different boards with few answers, or any working solutions.

I NEED YOUR HELP.

Like I already posted in many other threads,my BF2 is giving me new crap every day.

I have similar errors now.Today was one of the great BF2 days where absolutely everything is screwed up.

Today I started up BF2,had one CTD while joining the map, then I restarted and could play a few rounds of Wake until I got the "There's a problem with your connection" and the server crashes.
So I wanna quit and take a break.I quit BF2 and in that moment I got an error-sound,but no error message.
After a 20 minute break I wanna play again,so I start up BF2 again.
But this time I can't play at all,not even singleplayer,it just CTDs while loading the map.
So I'm pissed off with this, this has been going on for days now,CTD here, gamefreeze there.
Then I installed the full 1.3 patch over my BF2 installation which is patched with the incremental patch.
Now it works again,I was able to play a few rounds on Wake without any problems, although singleplayer crashed suddenly ingame before I tested multiplayer(maybe that's just today, who knows?)....

We can just wait and hope EA/Dice doesn't f*ck this up good like last time.

just wipe the old installation and re-install, then apply the full patch.  Bit of a pain, but you don't really lose anything unless you wipe your server profiles.  Renaming the movies that play at startup can help speed things along (as far as your initial speed issue.  Short of all that ... just reboot.  <shrug>

Err, the thing is that the 2nd time I start up bf2, there is no CTD. BF2 doesn't get farther than that large "Battlefield 2" emblum, the one that sit's on your desktop before BF2 takes full screen.

Alright, I just did a complete uninstall reinstall of all components for the 2nd time. It still behaves the same way. Starts up fine the first time around and a second time it gives a error message.

have you done a disk clean latley along with the defrag?  Also if you don't shut the computer down everyday/night it can cause your cache to be full making it hard to do a whole lot of anything.  It will even slow down the clock.
