I don't really have a social life since I have no real reason to go make friends outside where I live (that and it's WAY too hot outside in this Arizona heat to be looking around)
I've got everything I need to feel content, friends online who I know personally through actual physical presence and have kept in touch with for years now, my fiancee who keeps me company and tells me to take out the trash... tons of music to keep me company when I'm alone, that and I'm usually a loner, not by choice, but I've been used to it so BF2's only enhanced my experience at being alone rather than ruining my social life.
Still, +1 for asking/posting.

This exact same thing happened to my mate... Who for the record, I do not like because of this. he sits in ALL DAY without going out at all. I practise Ninjutsu and he recently shook me off for his fucking silly WoW now I train with adults which admittedly is better, but not as funny.
I reccommend just getting out somehow. If your bored and you wanna play BF2 just phone your mates whether you like it or not and get out otherwise this may happen to you, and you may start losing friends.
Theres my advice.

It hasnt affected my social life. The main people I play with are the guys I know from school / university, plus a few guys I met through gaming (one guy I met in CSS because he was singing kareoke, and i recognised the song, it was from The Pirates Of Penzance!). I don't avoid my regular social events in order to play and when i do play i enjoy it more when it's with my mates! In conclusion, Yay.
Some guy in Japan i think died of heart failure because he played a game for 25+ hours straight.True story.

um yeah, i just had a baby boy so my playing time is declining. i gotta strap the sucker to my chest when he's sleeping in order to get some playing time. between him, the wife nagging, and my job, its not as easy as it used to be. basically gotta wait for my days off to play. anywho thats my 2 cents.
the gf has her time with me on the weekend ( no BF2 on the weekends ) but the weekdays in between going to dinner with her and the shooting range , 6 pm to 4 am BF2, 4 - 7 30 sleep, 8 work - wait it out till 6 pm too start it all over again
i have a social life, my friend thinks its sad playing this game, he watches me but says its borin so when hes around we just go out and play footy or mess around and we sit by the motor way and look at this kick ass cars going past, and the small village i live in has big cars and big houses so can be fun to see whats going past

battlefield has had zero effect on my social life.. i don't play THAT much
I am lucky because I get off of work at 4:00pm and my Wife gets off at 6:00pm, so there is 2 hours I get to play. She usually falls asleep at about 8:30pm because she is worn out by the time she gets done with work. I sit on my ass in a cubilce all day so I usually stay up until at least 10:00pm, so there is another hour and a half. So I can get a good 3+ hours in a day without sacrificing anything.

My girlfriend doesn't let Bf2 impact my social life Anytime i spend too much time playing she will come up and hit Escape to get me out.
i must say it pretty much invected me, i leave schoolwork for it, i drop friends for it somethimes..
somethimes i even call myself sick for school so i can play bf2....
i think it pretty much got me aswell.
