You have to be the highest (points) rank Sergeant Major of the month to get it, but you never will because there are a ton of Sergeant Majors pre-patch 1.2 (when they gave all the ranks) so there are Sergeant Majors with like 150,000.

but really...I would assume that it would have to be that you are in the right place at the right time....that you earn enough points to make Sgt Mjr and the old SMOTC was just promoted to 2nd Lieu....

He stayed Sergeant Major and he has the most points of all, so EA gave him the rank. When he play a round with the patch, he will get promoted to colonel and the second sergeant major with the most points will become SMOTMC.

actually my enemy was it for a while before he ranked.

No, no one will ever get it because of the new patches. Some people never patched up, so they have like 170,000 points, and still not 2nd Liutenant (spelling?).jjrp02 wrote:

Umm i am 90% sure it is an EA error because if you remember before any patches that was the highest rank in the game i dont think anyone can get it anymore just worry about getting the 10k for 2ndLt

Yeah i had it B4 i became 2nd L. and i think its just that it stays there when you get that rank untill you rank up. Then it starts counting down to the new rank.
