No, I didn't make a typo. I didn't mean to type 1.3. Recently I've been playing 1.03 since I was sick of the lockups, crashes to desktop, and server crashes.
...and I could use a lot more driver points if I ever want to see a Medal of Valor.
Anyway, if you're questioning your skill or having trouble cutting it with the big boys in 1.3, then 1.03 is for you. I have never seen so many horrible players in this game in my life. So far I have encountered no one ranked above Gunnery Sergeant. Not only do these players not know what teamwork is, but they don't exactly know what combat is either. It's very likely that if you have a score above 40 at the end of the round, you'll get the gold medal.

Flying the J-10 on Dalian has never been easier. Remember, this is before AA was improved. I've now had four rounds in a row of me going 50-0 without even really trying. Every once in a while you'll run into a pilot who you think knows what he's doing, but a few quick turns and loops and he crashes into the ground behind you.
Flying the helicopters would be a lot of fun...but all the gunners are terrible. Even when I line up the TV missiles perfectly and am writing in all caps over chat to "USE THE GOD DAMNED TV MISSILES YOU FUCKING RETARD", all I get in response is gun fire. Soloing is amazing. Again, remember this is from before they reduced the range on TV missiles. The effective range of these things is somewhere around 700m I believe. Nothing is more fun than going support, landing your helo in a roof of some obscure building facing the carrier, then sitting in the gunner seat firing away at anyone who dares touch a jet, helicopter, or AA.
If you're sick of 1.3 crashing, having bad connection problems, or taking forever to verify your client data, then 1.03 is for you. I've been playing it for the past two weeks and so far I have yet to get disconnected from a server, lag for more than a second, crash to desktop, have BF2 freeze, and for some reason verifying my client data takes about 10 seconds.
Now if only I could find a decent gunner...
