Will a Creative Soundblaster 128 PCI be better than my current on board Realtek HD audio? Because, I have a high spec computer, but I seem to lag, because of my poor on board sound. I was wondering if the Creative Soundblaster 128 PCI is going to help my performance or not?

Thanks, Casheti

(By the way, I have 1GB of DDR2 533MHz PC4300 RAM, AND A PCI-EXPRESS X850XT 579/1218)

uh... yeah.

anything that takes load away from your motherboard is good.  pci peripherals can gain u processing power / frames per second.  your processor is currently doing all the maths for sound, as well as the rest of the work.

get a new card, and the card does that work.

But people say that my Creative Soundblaster 128 PCI is like 6/7 years old, therefore weaker than my current sound. Is that true?

Well, maybe If its a dedicated sound card, it may still prove better. I guess its a case of trial and error. And If I was to buy a new soundcard, I would settle for nothing less than the Creative X-Fi, but I'm not going to buy it, so I have to stick with the one I have.
