I'm currently playing with a Logitech trackball, and have seen many of the posts about the different types of mice. Any thoughts from the experts about trackballs vs these mice, like the copperhead? Thanks in advance.

Basically, It depends on what kind of player you are. Razer's mouse are most for high sensitivity players because the grip is different as the other mouses. It's more like you play with fingers you use it. It's great, I've bought one (actually it was a Razer Diamondback) but I returned it back realized I wasn't such a high sensitivity player.

If you're a low sensitivity player, I would suggest the MX series or a MS intellimouse 1.1, 1.1SE and MS intellimouse explorer 3.0. The MS mouse are more recognized to have a very nice grip like the MX series. I've heard that the MS's are way better than the MX's because it seems that they are way more comfortable than MX's. I myself ordered a MS intellimouse explorer 3.0.

I'm currently using a MX-518 and all I can say is it is a great mouse. You can choose the number of DPI (dot per inch) 400 to 1600, 7  customizable buttons and a good grip. The Razer's mouses are similar. Take Diamondback for example, you can also choose the number of DPI ( max 1600, min 400) 7 customizable buttons. But like I said, Razer's mouse are more for players who uses their fingers on a mouse than players who use their wrist. Always remember one thing : A mouse is a pure preference choice.

NOTE: The MS intellimouse 1.1 SE and intellimouse explorer 3.0 are discontinued so good luck finding one. Best way to get one is to check on ebay.

Oh yeah and about the Razer copperhead ( and other laser mouses) you need to check if they are compatible with your mouse pad because some people had problems with tracking their mouses on their mouse pad. A solution to that problem is to update the firmware.

PS: MS: Microsoft

I used to use a Logitech trackball when I played AQ2. The thing was amazing until I broke it. If I ever see it again at the store, I'll have to pick it up and give it a try for old times sake.

i use a G5 and tbh it owns 2000dpi and i cant get used to the razer, i hate it just makes my fingers ache really bad after a while and it just seems to small/thin, ive had my g5 since release day and i used the copperhead for a bout 4days and hated it.

It all depends of what you find comfortable

If you are not sure about which mouse to buy go and feel how they handle in the store.
The manager won't be bothered to unpack these babies if you say that you can't decide between a Copperhead and a G5,both are not that cheap...

I have a Copperhead and I gotta say that it's for smaller hands, suits me perfectly. If you got bigger hands you could get problems with the little sidebuttons and the shape in general(sausage-fingers are a bad basis).

I used to use a setup similiar to this:

Then this:

That was back in the BF1942/Halo days, but I haven't used it since. The trackball was great for those games, but I'm not sure about BF2, I'll have to give it a try to see how it works with it.
