I'm one of those people who likes to stick to a class for a whole battle. However, i've just noticed some weapons dont work with some maps. So, here's the best and worst weapons on each map (I'm sure I'll forget one). Please note - Submachine guns have been omitted since theres never a good time to use them.
Strike at Karkand
Best: Auto Shotguns + Medic guns - running round corners and blasting people to bits is very fun. Plus tanks can be dispacthed with the launcher. Playing as a medic can get you huge points, but reviving is boring in my opinion.
Worst: Support Guns - So many alleys in this level you cant afford to be lying down. You invariably get shot from behind.
Mashtuur City
Best: Sniper Rifles/L85A1 - Best level for rooftop sniping. The L85 allows you to take flags after you've sniped everyone out, which doesnt work too well with a sniper.
Worst: Shotguns - While this is a city map, it is very open and you need range.
Sharqi Peninsula
Best: Special Ops guns - This level has a mix of open and closed spaces, so you need the flexibility of range and close-in power. Although the assualt does more damage, the usefulness in C4ing a recently gained flag, then detonating when it goes neutral is immense.
Worst: Support - For the smaller spaces to the west of the map, just cant fire on the move.
Dalian Plant
Best: Support - Very useful in a transport helicopter, as well as heavy fire over open spaces in this map. Conisder switching to special ops for flag taking though.
Worst: Medic - Too open for effective healing, the extra armour from the assault comes in handy.
Daging Oilfields
Best: Engineers/Anti-Tank - this map is all about vehicles. Infantry combat is a very small issue around the flag points, so anything vehicle related will do best.
Worst: Sniper - People rarely get out of vehicles, so no real sniping oppurtunities.
Gulf of Oman
Best: Assault - definate need for range here, but not much use for...
Worst: Snipers - Theres no good cover in this map. All the open desert makes it incredibly easy to spot snipers, so you want to be on the move constantly.
Operation Clean Sweep
Best: Support - Plenty of hills to lie on and swamp flags with covering fire.
Worst: Anti-Tank rockets - Unless you are amazing, hitting helis with these at anything apart from a hover is pretty useless, and doesnt do much damage anyway. Dont bother.
Kubra Dam
Best: Anti-Tank rockets/Snipers - Very vehicalised map, defiantely need something to kill them here. If thats not your style, snipers have limited uses, although the only real way is to watch one paticular flag point and baserape it, really.
Worst: Support - Do you want to be caught lying down in the middle of a base with tanks everywhere? If yes, use support.
FuShe Pass
Best: Snipers are your friend. Quite vehicalised, but the terrain makesit very difficult to use rockets. Instead, watch a couple of command posts and snipe.
Worst: Shotguns and Special ops - Dont use shotguns, no range. Only the DAO-12 as you need it for rockets anyway. Special ops are for close in maps. Use assault if you cant snipe.
Dragon Valley:
Best: Rockets - lovely open green plains with tanks. You cant miss
Worst: Shotguns - you'll get murdered by assaults.
Wake Island 2007
Best: Rockets/Snipers + Assault - Lot of choice here. This is very clear cut offensive or defensive map. For defense, tanks seem to be everywhere, so use rockets. If there are loads on your team already, use snipers. For attack, assault is easily your best bet. The very open flags are easy to defend, so your smoke grenade is a godsend. If possible, use your allies to throw 3 or 4 at oonce, shrouding the area with smoke. The rush in and shoot them all close up.
Worst: Support - You just get mowed down by tanks, APCs, and those annoying choppers.
Overall:
Best: Special Ops - While not really the best in any field, his Carbine is second only to the assualt weapon, and the C4 is invaluable for defending flags.
Worst: Engineers - Rubbish shotgun, and anti-tank mines are highly visible. Way more so than C4, which can be hidden off the road. Only use for specific tasks such as repairing artillery, and get someone to protect you even then.
