it seems to me that theres a bunch of chatter about the importance of rank lately. some believe it is the scale of noobdome and others think it is the scale of whoredom. I think i fall in the latter of the two. When i scan the leader boards and check out these guy's stats, most of the time i get depressed. a lot of the leaders fall into some kind of whoredom, whether it be of the armor, heli, or plane variety. in a perfect world, rank would measure all around bf2 ability; such as grabbing 15 kills in a tank, bailing out of it and grabbing another 10 kills with whatever ground weapon you have.

whatever, ive had too many beers tonight and those are my opinions.

so the nextime anybody with an officer's rank sneers down on you, just check out his stats and see how good he really is

For me, the ranks are unimportant. Their just names for certain score-levels...
They only mean something to the commander-election-script and to nerdy 14-year-olds who suck at real life...

Whoredom eh? Last time i checked the game i play is BF2. So planes, choppers, tanks are all part of it and all take skill to master. So these leaders have done this as opposed to being one of you dedicated 'ground punders' most of whom suck on ground anyway.

i rank myself, i try to go for awards and stuff to challege myself. the game would get old fast if we all were medics. it makes me feel good working for stuff while having fun. if they stripped my account it wouldnt matter to me, they dont mean anything. you just have to prioritize stuff to your lifestyle, i guess, im tired

I would go for the general if I see a private flying I most of the times bail out just to be sure I sur5 another minute

and yes I care about my rank this gives me a goal to carry on playing the higher I go the better it feels

I play the game when I feel I want to if I score points over time then I move up a rank, It doesn't matter to me. After all what does rank actually mean? That you have a better chance of being commander in the game... Players with high ranks and high points = they have been playing the game for a longer time.

Or perhaps thats just stating the obvious?

Okay, so you totally care about your rank.

What are you going to do when BF2142 comes out? Star over, or stick with BF2?

The scoring and ranks are an interesting feature, sure, but I see them as something of a ball and chain around the ankles of certain players. Time will come when I bore of BF2, or other people do and the servers begin disappearing. Either way, my stats are something I think about right after worrying if I have enough loo roll to wipe my ass with after a dump. I'm not calling them stupid, that's simply where they lay in my life priorities.

Well IMO when you reach Sergeant Major you should at least be good at the game by then. Rank really doesnt mean anything though. Just yesterday I was in a server and some private first class randomly types, "ur a first sgt and i have more points than you" he had 20 points more than me and hes already bragging. I told him "rank doesnt mean shit and neither do points" and then hes like "STFU AND PLAY THE GAME" hahaha

for me rank does count..i see anyone under a sergeant major in the chopper i will shoot his ass out..and talk to him and say..find a empty server go practise on it get used to it and come back when your ready to use it!

To me rank doesnt say anything about a player and/or how good they are... i find a good player to be one that can help in training... a not so good player in becomming a better player

eg an attack chopper of any kind having the two ppl in it and if one is pretty good at using it and one isnt that the one that is good at using it will help the other guy out... in becomming a better pilot...

which i will try and do if someone looks like they dont know how to do whatever they are trying to do
