So, we all know that when 1.3 came out, everyone was complaining about server crashes and such

and because of that, i decided that i would stay on 1.22.... the only problem is, i'm down to about 3-4 servers that i'm getting tired of (all of them have only city maps.... i want my Daqing!!)

now, i was just wondering, is 1.3 better? or do you still lose your connection every 15 min?

if it's better i'll happily download the patch

Well nobody has posted a topic like "OMGWTFHAX0RZ!!! my computer keep crashing!! EA is n00bs!! 1.3 iz teh suk!!" for a really long time

well i have been playing fine with bo problems i played for maybe 9 hours the past couple days. the only problem ive had is when i CTD but thats only when i try to play SF maps, i just got SF and havent gotten it to work real well, but without special forces its been fine.

Yep,it seems much better,maybe EA sent a fix to the server hosts?
But maybe it works better because I updated Punkbuster,I really don't know..but 1.3 is OK if they fix that Hotel-glitch.

I still crash on certain occasions certain city maps that I play on, but overall its not that bad.

The guesses are that the server crashing had something to do with a client side incompatibility.
I pointed out at the time that if this were the case then we would be seeing a drop off in crashes as people re-patched (as we have been told to do (esp if using the incremental patch)).
It seemed at the time that there was no drop off in the total crashed (measured across a large data centre) so that idea was poopood.
Now that the crashing does seem to be easing it is starting to look like it might have been a client side issue after all.
So on that note I would like to raise a single digit to all the gits who've been crashing my server recently.

Seriously though, getting no more than one a night, if that these days so looking a lot better.

I was in 5 different servers that crashed last night in a matter of 2 hours.. wasn't me the whole servers went down( 5 members on my ventrilo lost the servers at the same time). I have been playing since day one and i have never seen it that bad so... NO it's not better now.

What I was saying was that an issue with the client side was causing the whole server to crash. If you find it's happening to you more than others I suggest you reinstall and repatch with 1.3 FULL version (even if you used this before).

If this doesn't settle the crashes for you I'm sorry to have wasted your time. If it does then you may well be enhancing your own gaming experience as well as that of everybody else on the servers you visit too.

1, BF2 Vanilla

i decided to try the full patch (as i was on incrementals) and installing that seems to fo made it alot better. i was an inch away from writing a really abusive letter to EA saying how much the cocked up and how i hated playing the game when 90% of the time it would CTB - but then i thought 1000s of people of probs done it already. but yeh 1.3 sucks major balls and for that EA cant be forgiven in realising one of the worst patches since the retail release of X3

My BF2-install is giving me only crap lately,maybe it's because it's still the original install from when I bought the game and installed it the first time,maybe there are some files left in the system which don't belong there(some mappack stuff maybe),maybe the incremental just f*cked things up...

Punkbuster is up to date,updated 2 times yesterday,manually and with pbsetup.exe,I updated the graphics card driver when my AF was on LSD and I reapplied the full 1.3 patch over the incremental install 2 times already.

The last 2 or 3 weeks there were no major problems besides the CTDs on joining the server(but that's gone with the auto ready box trick),the occasional CTD ingame and the regular server crashes.

Yesterday I got unmodified content kicks on TV2 24/7 Wake(but only one server!) and the punkbusterbox was unmarked after the kick(?),after joining the other TV2 Wake I could play for hours without problems,but when the mapcycle was finished after 20 rounds of Wake I get the unmodified content kick again after loading the same data I've just used to play on that server...weird...
So I patched 1.3 full over it once again,tested it in singleplayer yesterday and get BF2 Memory Errors(I've bought my 2 new RAM bars in May,I don't think that they are faulty,everything else works with them),but after alt-tabbing and pressing continue on the error-message it continued to load the map.

Today I didn't get any unmodified content kicks on the same servers which kicked me yesterday but singleplayer doesn't work anymore,it just crashes in the middle of loading the map.

So I really consider a fresh install now.....

Is there a way to keep your control-configs (just copy controls.con to the desktop and replace it after the install?),can I keep all my settings (somebody said the BF2-files in your private files would be the culprit for the crashes?) or do I really need to retrieve my account and set up everything again?
