Ok, I am kinda frustrated with stupid people tonite, so I will show them this.

EA Games - They makes very little of their own games..They are a video game franchise name and they burn the games to the CD, package it, and ship it. They payed to do so, and they get payed when a purchase is made of the game.

Digital Illusions, CE ( aka. DICE ) - They are responsible for all content in the game of Battlefield 2. They have made every single patch, and they then gave the file to EA Games to distribute. They also make money when someone purchases the game.

Many businesses run like this..They all have intermediaries, and have one product, they sell it to someone else, which sells it to individual stores, which raises the price each time. Each company, or buyer adds their own little bit to the price to make a profit.

But the main point is...

DICE MAKES ALL THE BATTLEFIELD 2 CONTENT

EA DOES NOT, THEY LET YOU DOWNLOAD THE PATCH

BE MAD AT DICE FOR THE CONTENT OF THE GAME

OR BE REALLY WEIRD AND BE MAD AT EA FOR LETTING YOU DOWNLOAD THE PATCHES

Sigh....I hope this helps some people.

but if you are mad at how much the game costs and the fact that they are selling all of these expansions (note the selling part not the making of the expasions) then you can be mad at EA.

also i dont care if people say EA, even if they are wrong, you know what they mean.  i think with BF2 we can use them interchagably.  and just so i dont piss anyone off (as somone has done to you) i put EA/Dice

That is true but way too oversimplified.  It's much more convoluted than what you suggest.

Publishers DO have a large degree of control over the games they publish.  They set the timelines (which companies like DICE have to adhere to)  and release dates (which can greatly effect the quality of a game if the publisher is rushing the project).  Publishers also generally fund the development of the project as well, which gives them plenty of clout to direct how a game will look, features that will or will not make the final release of the game, and even how many patches a game will recieve, not to mention when it will no longer recieve patch support.  Trust me, DICE did not just go to EA and say "Hey, we're gonna make a new patch, we'll have it to you soon."  If anything it's the other way around.  EA as a publisher is calling all of the shots here.  DICE is their puppet.  When EA says jump, the DICE roll.

It makes little difference when discussing BF2 if you say DICE or if you say EA with the exception that DICE is responsible for the quality of programming (and should catch all the flak for that) and that EA is responsible for the direction of the BF2 franchise.

Pesronally, I hate both companies equally.  They can each suck one of my balls (EA gets first pick of course....).

It's extremely true.

Take a prime example. Command and Conquer Generals.

Previously, the CnC games had been created by Westwood. But this one was entirely in the control of EA.

It was released a beautifal game. As was its expansion.

HOWEVER. They cut all support for it barely weeks after the expansion. They had moved on o their 'other' project.

I would much prefer a lower ouput of games, and a greater increase in support. However, that will never happen. Why? Because doing what they're doing is what has got them to the very top of the gaming industry.

EA sets the deadlines. EA sets the funding. EA dictates programming.

Considering EA now owns DICE, they're as much to blame for the shoddy and dodgy way this came has played out since its release for allowing DICE to release the game/patches/expansions in the poor condition they have. They're supposed to play test this stuff before publicly releasing it. It seems they're too concerned with silencing the whiners and making the all mighty dollar than making sure their subsidiary company is doing things right. I still like the game and EA because they publish a lot of other good titles, but I wouldn't be picky on whether or not someone wants to complain about EA or DICE because of all the stuff we've seen happen since release (and I've been playing since the demo). The public beta is a good start to doing things right, that way they can learn what they've done wrong before making it official.    -end rant

Go EA! Go DICE! Go BF2!    game on!

No. I think the problem is that they're overstretched. Go to the EA website. In the period of little over a month, they'll be releasing THREE games. On top of the, what, hundreds they have to 'support'.

I did simplify my explanation of the pricing and all that manufacturers shit..Mainly because most people cannot comprehend it all.

I mean I don't hate Battlefield 2, My main thing was to get people to either get it right, or just so they know they are wrong.....EA does have a reputation for fucking up games too...Which is why I actually might go back to UbiSoft games if they havent been bought out, and for some reason I can't play Battlefield 2.

One thing EA cannot fuckup however is their PS2 Sports games, so I can resort to that if I want
