how are commanders spotting armor/troops/heli's etc when they're in the commander screen like pressing q does when you're on foot?

I'll zoom all the way in to an area, see some troops running around, press q to spot them, but nothing happens?

Right click in commander screen. Then Click Spotted.

this is problaly the most important thing to do as a commander. honestly I would request a kick if u were commander on my team and didnt do it. or i would just change teams.

A small addition to that commander spotting bit. It helps to spot people AFTER the scan is complete. otherwise the signature wont show up on poeples screens, and you'd just be wasting bandwidth yelling "armor spottet" and noone knows where anyway.

I wish there was an easier way to spot as a commander - I mean, you have to right click then left click - if you are trying to do that for a heli its just "enemy forces spotted" - and thats it. I can never spot helis unless im zoomed right in and the fucker is near still
They should make it so that you just left click on the scanned dot and itll spot it for your team. Makes no sense why should have to right click.

On big maps especially the UAV only has a limited range, and it's only in one spot anyway. Doing this you can spot someone waaaay on the other side of the map to alert nearby friendlies to something in their area.

Assuming they're not asleep and pay no attention to the minimap of course... this is regretably too often the case, even with officers; like the guys driving tanks/APCs who are recapping a lost flag that you spot an incoming spec ops or engineer for, repeatedly, who just swing the turret around in a limited arc, don't check their six and get blown to bits while you look on in frustration.
