- NE1 seen increase in "teamwork" since squad hopping went away?
No...
Me neither...
rofl, no. In fact, its all but gone completely.
Yes I have.
Squads? What squads?
Nope, nada, nothing

Nope, in fact I think its gone worse - I see far more Smurfs than I have seen for a long time, or perhaps that has something to do with it being school holidays?
Shit, thats an excellent point. I was wondering why decent servers with squads, comms etc were becoming more an exception than a rule, but it can all be directly traced back to 1.3.
Without wanting to go off on a rant, I hope something gets done to encourage people to Squad-Up again.....
A server full of lone wolfs on Karkand64, trying to defend the MEC side of the river is no fun.

I'm finding that I have to pick a squad at the start or a round and if I leave I can't join any other squads for the whole round.
A working squad is great, but getting rid of 'squad hopping'? That just makes it hard to find a squad which does actually want to work together.

The only way to encourage people to make squads if if they get points out of it.
A squadleader would get a point for every four people in a row that spawns on him.
A squad member would get a point for say, every five minutes in a squad spent within range of the SL.
Sure, as with every change you'd need to make preparations for stat-padders, but then you always do.
I think a system something like this would encourage more squad play.
As it stands, keeping the SL alive just isn't important to squad members, so it's down to the SL to stay the fuck out of the action. Which is boring.

Just a shame that the constant dangling of the point carrot is apparently always gonna be nescessary. I wish people would play properly. I like servers that threaten to kick people for not squadding up, i just wish i'd see more of them enforcing it....
too much stat padding would follow. IMO lone wolfs shouldnt see UAV. also, when in a squad and close to each other u should get an automatic call from squad members saying they are under fire.Poet wrote:

Commanding at the moment is a complete nightmare, there are maybe 1 or 2 squads of 2 or 3 people if you are lucky and that can be on a 64 player server... Come on people if you really want to win matches squad up! There are wonders awaiting ARTILLARY, SUPPLIES, UAV's and even Vehicle Drops.
How can you expect your commander to help when there are no squads, or do people really believe they are John Rambo??? Its a team game no one wins by themselves.... To bring up an old saying "THERE IS NO I IN TEAM" (Christ that management training is coming back to haunt me - lol)

Just last night I joined a server late in the game.....maybe about 20 tickets left.....and there were no squads on our team at all. Just 15 or so lone-wolfers. Weird. Usually you see at least a couple of 1-person squads so these players can at least request supplies, uav, etc.......which is also weird joining a team that has 3 squad leaders with no squad members. Hmmm, which squad do I choose? Or do I create my own?
I agree that teamwork has gotten worse since squad hopping went away.

That fix was retarded.
It takes away the only reason to be in a squad.

Well, i dont know what servers you lot play on, but I have seen no reduction in the number of squads or squad members and no change in the amount of "teamplay" - i.e. squad members spawning on SL's.
I do it all the time, and whenever im a SL, they always spawn on me.
Maybe its because I refuse to play Karkand, so on the bigger maps, teamwork is required to both cap flags and take out enemy tanks, but to also win the round.
Whenever I used to play that now god aweful map, teamwork in terms of squads was very very low.

Oddly enough... yes.
I've also seen an increase of medics in squads. Maybe because players are starting to realize that they need to keep their squad leaders alive.
Also, oddly enough, I've seen that if someone decides to join a squad, and they decide to "fight fires" elsewhere, where the squad leader is not, the squad leaders have gotten quite intimate with the kick from squad feature.
Maybe it's just the servers I've been playing on.

how has losing squadhopping reduced teamwork? it encourages people to stay in the same squad, while that may not increase teamwork, it's hardly going to reduce it. Squadhopping was definitely a good change to the game, especially in clan matches where you used to be able to spawn on anyone. Sometimes it's annoying, yes, but its also annoying that my guns wont kill everyone in 1 shot...get used to it

Since when is their teamwork in Battlefield2? I don't believe there is. Haven't seen it in a year.
I would give you -1 if I could for trying to make a topic within 5 seconds.srog72 wrote:
This is one of the top 5 worst changes made. I never locked a squad before now it is a must cause i get pissed when people join and don't work together. IMO TS or vent increases "teamwork" in-game VOIP sucks.
