- NE1 seen increase in "teamwork" since squad hopping went away?
Well, I almost always actually prefer being a Squad Leader, both before 1.3 and currently, because of the way I like to play (assaulting a back flag with a tank spawn for instance) and, as long as I have at least 1 person joining me early on, I'll get more squad members as the game progresses and quite often I'll have a full squad. (or even from the get go)
I play on the same server a lot so most of these guys I know (by name+skill level) and we can get some great teamwork going most of the time. Yes, its annoying if I die and my squad cant respawn near a flag quickly...but I almost never "hang back". I'm the kind of person that bails a BH one second before the other 5 occupants die horribly..I dunno, I guess I have a tendency for survival. But it also helps a lot if the SL is a medic and theres at least another medic in the squad.
As for being a squad member...I find my Squad leaders tactics lacking and don't understand what they want me to do. Some more use of the squad chat would help. And then theres those squads of 6 where the SL and someone else are in a plane or chopper constantly- very annoying...
Overall though, soon as you have a squad with a few good members, theres a stronger band of brothers kind of feel to it. Previously you´d have people joining and leaving all the time, now you generally stick together.
To those thinking teamwork is gone...try being a medic squad member and following your squad leader around whereever he goes, covering and reviving him as needed. Even without any form of communication you have some basic teamwork going on...I´ve had such people in my squads and greatly appreciated their work. The game also becomes more fun if you´re worrying about more than just your own skin and score

Yeah, I have to agree that teamwork is down a bit since the squad hopping nerf.
Even those who form squads don't seem to often want to work together. When I start on a new server I test my mic to see if it's working. Sometimes I test it, say a few things and never hear a word back throughout the round from any squaddies except "yeah, your mic works".
I also see less commanding being done. Whenever I command I try to give some direction and help to my squad leaders - and always respond to their requests when possible. I've been a squad leader many times in the last few weeks only to received no orders whatsoever. Some of these commanders seem to think commanding is just dropping a UAV and arty barrage every now and then.
Yes, I agree, nerfing the squads really affected teamwork. Pretty darn sad when you jump in a 64-man server only to find 6 1-man squads on your team doing nothing to coordinate.

I've lead squads that still work with me. But when I'm not SL, teamwork isn't even a word in most squad's vocabulary.

rofl, no. In fact, its all but gone completely.

nope, when i join a squad i always stay with squad leader and when i bring up my map the other 4 green dots are spread across the map
I think if they made it so squad members could ask for stuff from the commander it would increase. what happens is ppl join squads with lazy SL's so they go and form their own. That's why you see 6 squads with 1 person in each.
And this
Maximum number of squads reached!

I guess it just depends on the server your on...i have been on several where the teams worked together to capture flags. Once we had 4 guys in one hmmv and 2 guys in another and were capping flags and providing cover. Within about 3 minutes we had all but one flag and the mec never could recover from it.
I have noticed that it just depends on who you play with and where you play just like everything else get on a bad server with nothing but team killing and cheating then you can almost count on no teamwork and people more worried about getting in to a chopper or plane. But if you get on a server with people that like to work together even if you only have three guys to a squad you will do far better then on your own. Last night I was on a server and we had two almost full squads working together, so there was 9-10 of us mobbing around and we were unstoppable. But all and all i have seen an increase in teamwork.
