Depends on what part of the U.S. you are in.  Some areas call it "pop", some callit "soda", some call it "soda-pop".

I just call it "coke".
coke rules the south, down here, if you ask for a coke you are likely to be asked what flavor, though the trend is fading, since originally the jerks just added....say....cherry syrup to get cherry coke, if you ask for pop people think of popsicles

and I always took "flat" to be something more like an apartment or a condo

edit: "jerks" were the employees that operated the coke machines, as they had to "jerk" the handles of the various flavors, originally "soda jerk"

yup, along similar lines, I'm sure herb pisses you off too, but that was back in the original post.

US - erb
UK - Her-b

Even within the US there are butcherings of the language.  Don't even get me started on wash/warsh, oil/oral, creek/crick, roof/ruff.  <shudder>  And ebonics.  And that's for straight for rizle you retarded sounding bizzles.

I've always gotten a kick out of the Canadian pronunciation of "about"

"I don't know what you're talking aboot."

Being part Canadian, I can always get a smile out of my friends when I say it.

Canada, Eh
