Does a Better PC Make you Play BF2 Better?

So heres the Question....

I got a New PC about a Month Ago, and My K : D ratio has gone up from 0.8 to 1.1.

Is this a Result of a New Computer, or am I Just getting Better?

Also, if you think it's not my PC, then what rank do you think is the bit where you start getting better?

My Vote would be for Sgt Major.

lol, well... lets face it, if you have a shit computer that lags like no other, than obviously a good computer will make you play better.

Yes, My computer use to lag like shit, i got more ram and a way better Video Card, Runs smooth now.. Graphics High.. Now i just got to sort out my ping.. Can never find a good server under 80 ping..

I agree to say that it's your computer. Better comp = better FPS. So therefore allowing you to play without being annoyed / interupted by the lag which ultimately ends up with being able to focus more and get more kills.

It only gets as good as full speed rendering without lag. Then maybe if you have uber peripherals with extra keys and such, you may get a little better, but that all depends on how you adapt to using them.

Less Lag, more processing ability, better graphics, etc can all lead to higher scores.

Give a crapy player a brand new Alienware, there still gonna suck. You have to be good already to see the improvement.

hell yes, is the ultimate lagger with terrible vision of the battlefield because he has a shitty comp or the smooth solid gameplay gamer with a very good view of things with a kickass comp gonna win?

Connection quality is a big, big deal as well. If 2 players of equal skill go 1v1, one is pinging 130 and the other is pinging 20, the 20 ping player has a big advantage. I don't know if it works like this in BF2 because of lag compensation, but in CS-like games where who shoots first and more accurately really matters, it really matters.

I dont know personally for bf2, bc the comp at my OTHER house cant run bf2, processor is like 1.4 GHz..

but for counter strike, which I dont have on my bf2 comp anymore, would run SO much faster and I was soo much better with the faster comp.....

Heck yeah it does. My old comp didn't quite meet the minimums, but I could still play. Blast cuncussion used to completely take me out of action, now that I have 2 gigs of RAM and a top flight card I can still fight when concussed. I used to not be able to fight indoors unless I sprayed and prayed with a shotgun, now I can do whatever I want. Since I can play with full viewdistance now, I can snipe, which makes me particularly happy. I've allways played snipers before in all my games, and it sucked to not be able to here.

my KD has gone up by .3 in 3 months and it's just gonna keep climbing.

^agreed,

also slight variations probably dont matter, but a computer that is new today would easily let you play the game to its fullest potential than a computer that is 2 years old (lag/jerkiness, shorter view distance etc)

Well, the 130 ping person may get more lag but will most probably win. Because the defualt latency is set to 100 and 130 is closer to 100 then thr person with 20 so the 130 ping person should win. Of course you can set your latency compsensation to anything you like

I wouldn't think lag wouldn't be a problem in America with your super fast servers. I get far less lag on a us server then on the aussie servers.

depends basically on the performance. it doesn't matter if you have all those pretty leaves on the tree, at the end of the day, what matters is FPS. actually, in some areas such as under a balcony, dynamic shadows turned off can be a good thing! ...or so i heard, i have it on.

There's a border where a good PC helps, after that it's only the skill & experience of the player. One thing that helps most is to decrease the graphic settings. Some players rather want to see a beautiful landscape in this game, if i want to do this i go out of the house.

I think you're talking about the Skill & Experience Cheat other players use? I must admit, i use it myself to mow down newbs and to make them call other players hacker.

As to addressing the main question, faster load times = more likely chance of you getting your favorite vehicle, or getting to a good vantage point before someone else spawns.

Also, view distance is a definite plus when it comes to sniping and Tv-missiling.

Yeah it does. Lets say i have 200ms ping in a server and my com is one of the best. I still can kick ass because my ram helps to stable gameplay:P

Yeah faster load times may help, but I've always played FPS's on low graphics with draw distance on high, and I do way better than everything maxed.
