G'day,

Today out of nowhere I kicked from a gamearena server with the message 'please revert back to the unmodified client bla bla', its happend before so I reinstalled, which seemed to go smoothly..
Then I tried to patch and the patch said 'Couldn't fine Battlefield 2 install folder' so, reinstall again..
Then on this reinstall I got this error as soon as it finished installing all the files:

https://img96.imageshack.us/img96/7294/errorinstallgl2.png

After that the setup closes and it ends up not installing anything..

Ive tried uninstalling BF2SF as well and then installing bf2, no luck there...
Tried resetting computer...nothing
I think something must have went wrong with the uninstall, I cant find the bf2 program in add/remove programs in control panel.

Any help? Thanks

Ea have a bf2 regitry deleter, try this.
javascript:ol('ftp://ftp.ea-europe.com/UK_Support/Erasers/Battlefield_2_Eraser_v12.reg');

then delete the game directory manually, restart then re-install!
Have had to do this myself! cured mine, may help you.

Good luck,
heres the whole intruction, (bit of an after thought!)

To Uninstall:

First, run ‘Battlefield 2 Eraser 1.1’ to remove all Windows registry settings for the game. You can obtain the eraser from:

ftp://ftp.ea-europe.com/UK_Support/Eras … er_v12.reg

You will be asked if you want to add the information, click Yes.

Next, delete the game folder:

1. Double-click on My Computer
2. Double-click on the hard drive your game is installed to (default is C:\)
3. Go to the folder where the game is installed to on your computer (default is C:\Program Files\EA Games)
4. Click once on the Battlefield 2 folder, now press delete on your keyboard and choose yes to delete (be sure to empty your recycle bin prior to reinstalling)
5. In My Documents you will find a Battlefield 2 folder, delete this.

Once the game has been completely removed from your PC, you will be free to reinstall the game. Kindly install in the following order:

Battlefield 2 (core game)
Special Forces (expansion pack)
Euro Force (booster pack)
Patch 1.3 (438 MB full version

I'd turn your computer back before it happened, uninstall from add remove programs, reboot, reinstall, dont forget to patch sf to full 1.3 after its install because sf reverts the patch back to an earlier state.
Hopefully that helps, if not I'm sure some other topic covers this.
Bah im too slow at posting.

Very big thanks for the help, bit of trouble with the eraser-

Is it supposed to just come up with a white webpage, and just have this on it?

Code:

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DICE\Battlefield 2(TM)]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{04858915-9F49-4B2A-AED4-DC49A7DE6A7B}]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2 Special Forces]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{50D4CB89-AF34-4978-96DC-C3034062E901}]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA CORE\INSTALLED GAMES\EAGAMES\BF2-2006]
Or is something else meant to happen? cuz thats all that happends for me.

Should come up with a security box, like a download request one, says "run save cancel." the link works for me. failing that, go to run. type regedit and follow all the paths shown a delete the entries. Warning!! only delete those ones (bf2 ones only)

K, I think the problem is that I has already deleted the entire BF2 folder before...so the reg thing wont work.

Failing that ring EA technical support, I've never rang them for any other game, but BF2 is special and needed extra work.
I found them very helpful they've reduced my CTD's although not cured, (getting rid of 1.3 would help.)

You could be right.
Delete everything connected with the game, even your user files in my docs!

Best of luck to you.

Try cleaning your disk. If that doesn't work, just download the game off the internet, mount it with DaemonTools, and install with that.
