Basically, the BF2C community is split into 2 forces (NATO and OPFOR). Each force is then broken down into 4 armies (NATO is comprised of 2 USMC and 2 EU armies while OPFOR is comprised of 2 MEC and 2 PLA armies). Typically each army is split into several line companies, an air force division, an armor division, and spec ops division.
I really suggest you at least watch the movie Sinny referenced in his post. The Movie Team over at BF2C really did a great job on this one! It's really a good showing of what BF2C is all about. You'll see squads working together to capture and defend flags while large armor columns roll around supporting their army.
I know some people frown at subscription services but $10 price tag (3 month sub) attached to this service is well worth it. The BF2C community is very welcoming and the Team Speak server always has active members playing. What have I walked away with from BF2C? I've made quite a few new friends, improved my BF2 game, played with an organized squad in an organized army, and had a blast playing in this tournament. In fact, I just renewed my membership a couple of weeks ago.
Battlefield 2 Combat (BF2C) is a blast. It's a completely different experience than a typical pub session. What sets BF2C apart from pubbing or clans is the mass organization of 30v30 10 hour battles (that's ten hours worth of multiple games in succession not one long single battle). It's a tournament where squads are used to their full abilities and where command staff actually gives direction to each and every squad by implementing an army wide strategy.[GDC]SinnFein wrote:

Books and I are both in BF2c, along with 4 of Books' lifelong friends. We have both said it was the best deciscion we have made in gaming.
The movie team just produced one of the best I've seen yet of one of the armies battledays, it will show you 100% of exactly what BF2C is about. When you watch it you'll see squad bombs, halo drops, haho drops, armour brigades rolling 4 abreast, watch squads pick up kits on the ground and rez ppl constantly it is truly and organized battle as any on the net.
