hi guys, this may help some of you, it may not, but god damn it works for me
right, my comp was ill (bless) so i decided to do a full rebuild. after installing windows and all drivers etc, i realised i didn't have my SP2 cd with me (shitty) but hey ho, i carried on.
i downloaded the full 1.3 patch, and after a defrag i installed BF2 in this order:
BF2
BF2:SF
patch 1.3 (full)
EF
AF
patch 1.3 (full) again
then i gave it a defrag again to tidy it all up
after a restart, i closed MSN and skype and all that jazz, then brought up task manager, and in process i end the process avgcc.exe, which is avg antiviruses cc under my user name.
then i started bf2...................u ready??? from the log in screen to connecting to account server to ready to play now takes 5 secs. seriously. i click login and then i'm straight there. joing a server takes the usual (about a min at most)
i've been playing for around 6 hours now on and off (last nite, this morning) ping of 20, not a single lag, not a single 'connection problem' etc i'm happy again. really considering leaving SP2 off for ages now.
