6600 GT PCIE on medium settings at 1280 x 1024 - 60 hertz. Runs well except when I'm in a shower of arty. My buddy runs a Quadro FX 3400 installed in a Presicion work station but I have not seen it run BF2.
Going from Low to Medium is the biggest jump in detail - once you get above medium you're just added layers of prettyness - but oh what prettyness...Coolbeano wrote:
i ran everything on low, medium lags on 42+ players, but i have a couple on medium.
man was i SURPRISED to see how detailed things were with lighting/geomitries/textures set on medium... the blackhawk guns aren't just black tubes anymore, they're actual chain guns!
my MB only runs up to 4x... but whats the effective difference between running a 4x and 8x, say with the same card. (got a radeon 9800pro 128 btw)
Also, (I am not a computer person obviously), but I've been told you can run 8x cards on a 4x board, and if you can, how much performance dimenishment do you get?

Yes you can run a 8x AGP card in a 4x AGP slot. You won't see an incredible difference. In fact I am willing to bet the only way you could tell is if you ran some benchmarks. This all depends on your set-up of course.Nagarond.Damminson wrote:

I run a Radeon X800 XT Platinum from Sapphire. Runs perfectly smooth apart from lag which i attribute to the server because on single player the battlefield looks even better! Shame about the CPU A.I
Look at this site. Should tell you whether you can or not run BF2: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/re … on_id=1766

I have a 6600GT (silencer) 256MB and run mostly high settings... (No AA) but i needed to assist the GPU with 2 GB of RAM.
But I would still love to upgrade to a Mobo with SLI 7800GTX's... anyone out there want to lend me $2500?

Sapphire 9600 Pro Atlantis
It does the job but Im upgrading. Unfortunately I have to upgrade almost everything if I am going to go for a better video card. Everything this day is PCI-Express so I need to upgrade my motherboard from my ABIT IC7 MAX III Socket 478 which only supports AGP 8X. And all of the PCI Express are either AMD 939 Socket or the New Pentium Socket so I have to upgrade to a new Processor (WHich is gonna be an AMD) So just to upgrade to a new video card:
New Mobo
ASUS A8N SLI-Premium 175
New Processor
AMD Processor 200
and
New Videocard
XFX Geforce 7800 GT 360
TOTAL 735
So 735 Dollars just to upgrade to a new videocard

Alpha as fuck.
I know my buddy ran the same card as me on an 8x AGP slot (vs. my 4x), and he did get better framerates... the detail wasnt affected much.Badcomp wrote:
