can a 7800 card run on a system that only has AGP.  Or do they make an AGP version of the 7800?  I have a 6800 card.  I would upgrade to a 7800, but I am thinking I will need a new mother board to get the PCI express.

3.0 Ghz P4 processor.
1 Gig system RAM.
200 GB hard Drive.

Also, will buying a seperate sounds card improve game performance? I think I only have on board audio, but I was wondering if buying one of those Blaster sound cards would give me better game performance by taking away work load from other areas of my system?

Perhaps I am better off getting another GIG of RAM instead?
THanks.
if i were you id get another gig of ram, there is no game out there that can release all the power of the 6800 so getting the 7800 would be a waste of cash, dont get me wrong its a kick ass card but the money it will cost you wont be worth the difference it will make unlike the ram.

ive got an asus 256mb x800xt pe, runs it great with all settings high with 4x AA and 8x AF. But my only problem is that it only lets me set my resolution to 1280x960 for some reason, ive got a 19" LCD so would much prefer to have it at 1280x1024, anyone else had this problem?
I wonder what's the spec of the rest of you system ? specifically CPU, RAM and HDD - I used to be able to run everything on high and suspect I still can in single player (haven't actually played the single player since the first day I installed it) - Nowadays (since 1.03) I find I get bad lag on all high, but I'm thinking that's something other than my otherwise wondersome x800xt pe... (probably lack of ram (1G) or slow swap file (in seperate partition, but at end of hdd not start))
The rest of my system is a P4 3.2Ghz HT, 1GB of ram, I started it up last nite just after I posted and now for some reason it lets me put it up to 1280x1024! Strange, but what a difference, looks so much sharper and im still gettin 50+ FPS! I think another gig of ram is on the cards aswell though, i get some lag during game when it updates the page file, or has to load anything for it! Also the theme music stays on for a coup[le of minutes after i exit the game!

To be honest, it runs quite nicely I run it all on low, with the view distance set to 100% on 1280x1024 resolution. The first 30 seconds are laggy as hell, but after that it's fine, runs perfectly smooth.

I'll hopefully upgrade to the GeForce 7800 witihn the next month or 2, planning on a totally new PC.

I started with an Nvidia FX5600 XT, said "Screw this," and updated to an ATI X800 XL.

I'm running on an nVidia FX5700 LE (128MB). I run everything on low EXCEPT terrain, which I set to medium. My viewing distance is 90%.

Even with those settings I still lag like f*ck whenever I get near grass (Chinese maps, Zatar) or near alot of mountains (flying a jet on Kubra). My other comp specs. are pretty weak. I'm planning to upgrade to a 6600 soon.

Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9600 Pro Advantage 256Mb

Running at 1024x768@85Hz with everything on medium except Dynamic Shadows which is off, view distance at 100% and 4x AA. Runs very well except for the intial choppiness when first loaded in, and the occasional bit when flying.

I just got a new computer

Abit FATAL1TY AN8 SLI Mobo
AMD 3800+
2gb RAM
7800GT OC
2x200gb RAID 0

The game is totally different on high quality, there is heaps more texture and terrain at first i didnt even recognise BF2. The best part is I never get any system lag, get 80-100 fps easily (hardly drops lower) full anti-aliasing, full distance (so much easier when trying to use the sniper) AND i am always the first in the server, the game loads in about 20-30 seconds AND i can always get commander coz there is no one else in the server for at least another 20-30 seconds

ps im allowed to brag a bit i spent heaps of money on my computer and for the first time ever i am able to play a new generation game on high quality, i have never been able to do this previously. finally i have the advantage on my opponenents

BF2 is a RAM devourer... EVERYone should make ram their main focus to improve gameplay.  A decent card will make a certain amount of difference to the game, but get more ram.

My spec:
7800gt pci-e, 3500amd64, 2gig of ram, asus a8nSLI-deluxe, Antec 180, Audigy2ZS, Tagan580wsilentPSU...
i was able to run the game on full spec with 1gig of ram, but it still lagged.  i dumped in another gig, and BY FECK, it went greased!! managed to get +20fps, and now no lag or jerk.

Full spec, full draw, full AA, full audio, full EVERYTHING..

Tissues to the ready..

Is there anyone with one of these ass-spanking machines that deliberatley runs on a lower quality? It's just that on lower quality there aren't any shadows....so if you're hiding in shadows, I can see you.

ps..(@ Sn1per) ... Nice one, mate. I know that feeling and it's awesome. Playing on a crappy machine for ages...Looking at games running on friend's PCs and thinking 'oh'...then you get a PC that PWNs everything any game can throw at it. Awesome.

Sadly, as you probably know, that feeling doesn't last long!
