I DL it anyway...And when I went to run the setup, it said to plug in the USB device...
i get the green / yellow icons but no one can here me either . i can here them . everything on my pc and bf2 is turned on high , yet no one can hear unless i yell , then my wife yells at me . i am getting a new sound card to see if this cures it for me ? i did the hardware test in the sound set up . you have to read a passage and you seea sound bar . but i literally have to have the mic inside my mouth and yell for someone to hear me

Try following the same steps and see what happens beginning to end and see what happens. So...when it says plug in the USB device then just plug it in even if it's serial. I would be surprised if they used different installations for similar devices

You wouldn't by chance have a camera with a mic in it as well? Or some other device with a mic, your monitor maybe? I'm thinking your mic might be set to one of these devices and that's why when you yell it get's picked up. Maybe check your mic settings to see which one it's using.
