Use VOIP and communicate with your men. Dont drop arty on flags your team is trying to cap. DONT USE CARTILLERY. Place UAV in strategic spots and use scans all the time. They save your ass. But the most important thing is communication.

You might want to read the BF2S Commander Guide found in the Wiki.

Dont become commander, then get in a jet or Heli, you may think youre good enough to do that and drop a supply box or 2 but theres more to it than that.

Spot enemies outside of UAV, dont use the scan at the same time as UAV.
Use the scan first, to find where the majority of enemies are and whether your team needs them, then pop a UAV overhead.

Put more effort into those people/squads willing to cap flags for you ie. a squad trying to cap suburb/factory on Kark. The grenade spamming bitches at hotel can wait.

use your zoom to be precise on supply drops, some commanders just simply drop it in any direction, its no fucking good to be on the roof or in water 50mts from my position.

Dont spam the chat with "enemy infantry spotted", spot a few here and there, give some time, then go again.

If you can repair your own assets do it, dont waste a supply box when it could of been used for a tank while in battle.

Thats all I got for now.

Don't go to the fight, no driving or piloting, keep an eye on your map and if somthing is charged use it or ask if they need it

Also, when you're spotting enemies outside of the UAV it's very helpful to zoom in to the highest magnification to spot them. Too often a commander will spot things, but they won't show up on the map for anyone. It's because you're not clicking on the unit. It'll tell you there's one in the area, but your guys on the ground won't see where so it's useless. There's nothing worse than a commander that spams spots all game but never actually shows you anything. ZOOM IN AND SPOT THEM!!!!

use cartillery when no one needs it. you can use it on AA to help out choppers/planes in the area, or on other vehicles, and my favorite, on runways

If you are on a map with a defending side and you are on that side, when you scan watch for any lone wolves nearing a flag away from most of your guys. Spot them at regular 5 second intervals until your team notices something is wrong. Zoom in on them and see what they are doing. If they lay down at a flag immediately place artillery on them or if you can drop a vehicle or supply box on them if no one is close enough to get them in time. If you only notice someone when a flag has been neutralized there is not enough time to get them with artillery before they capture that point. You must send the artillery as soon as they get to the flag for there to be enough time. This also applies when you are not on a defending side when you see someone is approaching one of your flags.

Check the scans for any dots around your uncaps, artillery, UAV or Satellite Scan spots.

If you see someone has broken through and is nearing a flag start right clicking "Spotted" around the flag at full zoom in. If there is anyone in the area, even if you cannot see them, even if your mouse is not over them, the enemy will be spotted. If there is no one there it will say "enemy activity spotted" and a question mark will appear. That should tell your guy that it is a false alarm. Even better, always click around your guy, so that if there is a question mark around him he can look and see no one is there. If the question mark appears behind a building your guy doesn't know if someone is actually there. If it is 10ft away from him he can plainly see there is no one there. Also if it is an APC or a tank that has broken through, drop a supply crate close to the flag. This helps them with repairs and also lets them know you are watching out for them overhead.

Use cartillery (vehicle drops as a weapon.) The other commander will you should too. Don't put your team at a disadvantage if your artilerry is being taken out take out theirs it is only logical. Don't worry about ethics this is a video game and it will be nerfed in the next patch anyway. Drop cars on tanks, APCs, jets, helis, and even infantry don't be shy it's actually a lot of fun. You can drop supply crates on infantry too but remember they drift a little as they parachute down, whereas vehicles tend to fall exactly where you place them with only minimal drift in the air.

If a flag has just been capped and there is a probable flag your guys will head to next, try to anticipate that and drop the artillery at the right time to fall just before your guys get there to clear it out. Remember the enemy should also anticipate you heading there next and will likely head there/spawn there to stop your advance so this can be very useful.

If you can use VOIP it makes you ten times a better commander, especially if you describe enemy movements and reassure people who have requested something that it is on the way as soon as it recharges. Way faster and way easier than typing.

Don't think "what should my team be doing" think "what is my team actually doing" look where they are concentrated if they are all spread out tell them we need better teamwork and work together. If you think they should be capping one flag but actually they are capping or defending another one don't get angry or think them stupid help them out however you can. Give them UAV, supplies, whatever you can. The UAV should only ever be down for 5-10 seconds in a game before you put it back up somewhere else.

This should be obvious but don't artillery near where your team is. They will not necessarily move back just because that red artillery icon starts flashing over their position on the mini map.

Hide somewhere safe from artillery, cartillery and supply drops. If you can, drive a dropped vehicle under it and get in the gunners position so the enemy commander cannot spot you.

Don't hog commander, unless no one else applies for it.

Make sure you hit K and not J when typing to your team

Don't focus too much on always dropping supplies for your tanks, it doesn't help them that much. If one requests repairs try and drop one for it if you can.

I'll add more if I think of anything.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE ONLY SPOT THINGS WHEN SCANNING AFTER THE SCAN HAS FINISHED.

I fucking hate a spotting commander who doesn't do this. Great.. enemy sniper? Wher---- *dead*
