The SCAR-H 7.62 is an assault rifle, the SCAR-L 5.56 Carbine is...a carbine.

A carbine isn't an absolute definition, a carbine weapon is a smaller and generally less powerful version of an existing weapon. SCAR L to SCAR H as is M4 to M16A2.
