I have noticed a lot of people on the forums lately complain about not being able to view certain content at work because either their employer has blocked the content, or the content maybe overseen by a prying coworker. I recently moved and took a job with a company in Nashville, TN. While the job pays significantly more than my previous employer my privacy has been severely limited because of the way the office is situated. This situation has caused my feeble nerd brain to come up with some solutions for viewing my favorite websites with out fear of people seeing what I am looking at.
While I can’t really offer solutions for blocked content I have discovered a nice little website which will allow you to camouflage the website you are viewing so it appears that you are working in office. At the moment it is still in beta and only works well with digg, but hopefully in the future it will work with many more sites.
I also have come across a nifty little switch which allows you to discretely tap your foot to minimize any windows you maybe looking at. This allows you to back out of any compromising website you maybe viewing in the event you are ambushed. Another cool feature is that the software which comes with it is fully customizable so that you make it do just about anything you need.
Hopefully those of you are stuck at work all day like me can put these little ideas to use. As I come across more little tips and tricks I will update it. I would add more now, but unfortunately I have a bit of work I need to finish now.
