Hey guys!

Just recently I started having this issue (pings of 300-500 in game when it's normally been 40-150).  We have Adelphia cable at our condo and it has always been reliable.  We actually upgraded from the 6 to 8mb line and it was a noticeable difference.  Everything up until the past 2 nights has been great, but now when I load up BF2, I get these skyrocketing pings in game.   Last night I was finally notified that the router was moved to my other roommates room, because he has this thing about resetting it if he can't play City of Heroes, but before, it was in roommate #2's room, along with the cable modem.  So now, we have the modem in room #1, wired to the router in room #2, which I am wired to from room #3.

I read some other threads on high pings and tried resetting my winsock and nothing happened.  Any other ideas or suggestions for fixing??  Is it possible that my high ping is crashing servers? I heard that it was not rare, but not very common either for that to happen.

EA and dice found out your connection was nice, and decided to sabotage your fun experience.

This may be a problem with your punkbuster. That used to happen with me, until I found out that my punkbuster would not update in game so I would have to do it manually. Heres the link to do it manually http://websec.evenbalance.com/downloads … bsetup.exe . Simply run the program and install it, then select Battlefield 2 as a game and click check for updates.

This is the page where the link is from : http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

Hope this helps.

ok, i'll give the PB update a shot tonight.

Doner90: I tried about 10 different servers last night.  2 were my clan servers, 1 was a server I help admin, and the rest were just random.  Even servers on patch 1.22, which I frequent, were giving me super high ping, but they weren't crashing.

I'd say one of your roommate's is running some sort of downloading client, which seems to be hogging up all your bandwith. For about a year or so we had to live with the inlaws, my bro-in-law steadily had his bittorrent's running all night while i played(he worked graveyard shift's). I usally turned it off when he wasnt home, and didnt turn it back on LOL.

yeah bittorrent will screw with your pings if it is running.... but try the punkbuster thing, it helped me out too.

Hello Tripp,

I think you have update your BF2 game with patch 1.3 !
As I read in another forum , check you settings for your connection : LAN , DSL , etc... With the new patch ,your old setting coul have been deleted
Try it and let me know
