Hello all.

So, I've been playing BF2 religiously for the last month without any issues whatsoever, on the following system;

Case: Coolermaster Centurion 530 Blk
CPU: AMD Athlon64 3200+ (2.2Ghz) Venice Core
Mobo: Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi (Socket 939)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 Hard Disk Drive SATA 200GB
RAM: Kingston 1GB PC3200
Graphics: MSI GeForce 6600GT 128MB PCI-E
Monitor: 19" Hyundai Ultra Flat CRT
Connection: 10Mbit/5MBit LAN internet

Last night while I was half way through a round, the blue screen of death suddenly appeared and before I could read what it had to say, my PC reset itself. Now, whenever I logged into the server following that, the same thing happens every time a map loadscreen gets to 14%

I've done a range of tests, GPU/CPU/HDD/Mobo Temp, virus scans etc, and everything seems fine, other games like HL2 are running without any issues. So, I decided to uninstall and reinstall BF2, which I have done, repatched and then logged back on, retrieved my account and headed off to a random server.

Load screen gets to 14% and Bam I'm reset again by the blue screen of death, again wihtout the time to read what it has to say. Any ideas? It's doing my nut in.

Hopefully, it's just because I'm a silly no0b and I've cocked something minor up somewhere

Thanks in advance.

This happened to me with a certain set of video drivers. I see you have an nvidia so I would recommend rolling back to the 77.77 drivers and see what happens.

What were you doing when the BSOD popped up?

Crashes at 8% instead... so I'm assuimg that means it is somehow related to the drivers...

As far as I remember I was just sitting in a BH firing away on the minigun, hadn't had any issues up until then... this is very... annoying

i had major probs with nvidia drivers of late, my advice dont go into the "8" series, they were a head ach and took a lot to get rid of the after afects they caused

I've tried everything, reinstalling game, rolling back drivers, updating drivers, updating sounds drivers, etc etc... but absolutely nothing I do seems to fix this problem, eveything works fine, but as soon as I try to load a server, the loading bar starts crawling and then this;

IRQL_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL

...

STOP: 0x0000000A (0XE1FBCA60, 0x000000ff, 0x00000000, 0x8056B506)
on the blue screen before an instant reset.

Posted on the 'official boards' where a few others have posted what seem to be the exact same symptons but with no luck yet. Annoying to say the least, but there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it

Hmm, well... how about this;

My friend suggested I 'manually update punkbuster' or something, since he had some issues. So I did... went to their official site, went through their update insrtuctions and logged in, viola... load screen works, game boots in and off i go start playing.

But I'm constantly getting this message on screen;

PB server is running old version C1.199

and about 2 minutes into play I get kicked from the server, ANY server, official ones included, with the message;

This PB server requires A1361 C1.199, Error loading PBC

So, I figured if I just manually updated I should have the latest version... thoughts?

Brand new A8N-SLi Mobo, I don't think I'll take that action just yet :p

So yeah manually updating punkbuster seemed to rectify this problem, aside from the fact that most servers I go in give me the error message from my last post... Oh well, at least I can play again.

Apparently those who encountered similar issues said even after a full reformat and reinstall, it still happened :s The game is letting me in on certain servers now, but where as it ran flawlessly before, now it's stuttering badly and blacking out on me Bah.

I think I might try a few more things, but at least I can get on to some extent now.

If it was working previously and it is a software issue then a full reformat and reinstall will fix it. If you do a all that and it doesn't fix it then it's a hardware issue.

Not sure if you'll get ANY useful info from it, but check out the event viewer to see if there are any cryptic codes, and then look it up on Micr$oft's site...Might be worth a shot (of 1800).
Good luck.
