I was just wondering, because I wasn't planning on buying 2142 (I've learned my lesson.) But I was concerned that the bf2 community might disintegrate. What are your thoughts?

It depends on if any mods for 2 are good or not.
I'm not getting 2142. I have no good reason besides the fact that I'm a "po' ass motha' fucker"..
I don't care if the community "disintegrates" because most of the dickheads who complain about bf2 now, will be playing 2142. So their go all the assholes, thank you EA/Dice, for the asshole filter.

Depends which one I like better but I'm definitely going to pick it up
Isn't it interesting that no one has said that they won't play at all? So much for their bitching and moaning...
Depends cus I will probably have to upgrade my comp to play 2142, so it all depends when I can afford to do that and then buy 2142 and even then it depends on how well the game seems to go down with those who buy it...
no way in hell im buying 2142
I don't really care for the theme of 2142, but I will get it and try it out. Personally, I like the modern combat theme of BF2. The could do so much more with BF2 IMO.

If 2142 has as many problems as bf2 i'll be playing bf2 until something better comes out. UT2K7 if my hardware can handle it.

I can feel the burnout point for BF2 approaching, but it's nothing to do with 2142. I've played this game for about 350 hours, and honestly, that's more than enough. I can't imagine what all I would have missed in life if I played as much as some folks (1k, 2k+ hours).
As far as 2142 goes, I will not buy it at release. The only way I'll buy it after that is if EA pulls a rabbit out of it's hat and the game is actually stable. In the unlikely event that I do buy it, I'd consider completely avoiding ranked servers in an attempt to avoid the retardedness of point whoring instead of teamplay.
All that said, I hope 2142 surprises me and turns out to be a great game. I miss the mechwarrior series, and I'm tempted by the mech combat side of 2142.
Besides, for FPS play, there plenty of new titles on the horizon. I have no worries that I'll be able to fill my FPS needs without looking to another DICE turd.

Im gonna play mods so yes.
I feel pretty much the same. New maps in rotation on ranked servers will be good. Look forward to Jalalabad.EVIL_STYX wrote:

What, not get it and miss out on all the fun?
Fun= fork out ~$50 for what is essentially a BF2 booster pack, get repeatedly and unceremoniously pounded by new "hovering-super-vehicle-whores", serendipitously discover non-hack/non-exploit tactic to counter "hovering super-vehicle", read endless complaints about "hovering super-vehicle counter tactic", download "new improved patch", and discover "hovering super-vehicle tactic" nerfed. That sounds about right.
Oh, I'll still get it. How insane is that?

We're all in it for the mental anguish, there's no other sane explanation!brsmky wrote:

I will most likely play 2142 alot more than regular BF2. Heck, even if 2142 isn't stable or working well; how would it be any different than BF2? So, I guess it will be nice just to get a change of scenery from the vanilla.
I personally have to buy three copys of 2142, how insane is that? Three Comp's with networking. BF2 set me back 3 copys of vanilla and 3 copys of SF thats $180.00 for vanilla and $120.00 for SF $300.00 total without the boosters. Not including the Comp upgrades to play the game in the first place. Now thats insane!

It depends on how many times people ask this question.
You need a option for "Depends whether BF2142 will suck or not"
I have no opinion... Although, it would be a good chance to try and get a top ten spot before all the whoring begins... HHmmmmmm......
I plan to definatley play 2142 alot. But I will come back to BF2, for that nostalgic feel.
It was afterall, my first Battlefield game.

I assume that 2142 will have a public demo before it comes out, but has anyone heard any kind of confirmation of this? (I know there's a public beta planned, but I mean a playable demo.) That'll have a lot to do with whether or not I buy it. I'm not overly enthused about the futuristic theme, but it might end up being really cool. I just won't pay $50 to see if I'll even like it.
This question is kind of like asking someone: "Will you continue to eat pepperoni pizza after the new chicken parmesan pizza comes out?" How the fuck should I know? I haven't even TRIED the new chicken parmesan pizza FFS!
EDIT: Yes. Public beta and demo.
